I just read an advertisement in "Airgunner sep 2005".
It's about a chronograph:
Combro chronograph CB625 MKIV
it says:
"The amazing Combro CB625 fits onto the muzzle and measures pellet speed in fps and power in ft/lbs. £39.95 (about 60 euros or 80 usd I guess)"

Does anybody know this device - and if yes - does it seem to be a good thing to buy? I've always known chronographs to be a lot more expensive and certainly not attachable to the barrel.

It is distributed by JS Ramsbottom ("the UK no. 1 for airguns)

I've got one and it works

pretty good although I get lower readings than I do with my Chrony even after adjusting the Combro to compensate. The readings are 10 to 20 fps slower depending on the gun. I got it because it works indoors without having to go to elaborate lighting setups. It is a bit fiddly as you have to adjust it to each gun. A rubber band is the best way to attach it.

Yes, like 6talldog says, it is a bit fiddly to attach. A year back, I did not align it well with the barrel of my M48 and a 1000 fps 177 pellet sealed the combro's fate. That's right ... I went and shot the chrony....

Safer bet for me would be one of those 'sky-arms' jobs...

With lights pellets, and a working combro, my 48 was doing around 1000 pps. With H&N Baracudas, I registered 900 fps or so. This over a year back and never got to repair the mangled combro.

My HW77.22 was doing 690 to 710 fps with H&N FTT's. Attaching the combro to the underlever HW77 was a pain and I had to remove the front sights and fit the combro inverted to the muzzle. Yes , it worked but extremely fiddly..

I have one, one a springer it MUST be attached with tape or you will shoot it.

I've found the service to be excellent and inexpensive but then I'm in the UK.

The newer ones can be adjusted to match a reference chrono, and they are not affected by lighting.

For the price they are untouchable.
