Hello,
When you look at the end of the barrel, the position of the chamber is not really center between the rubber seal. It is slightly down and an very very little to the left. At the muzzle it is center.
Amazingly it shoots dead center with the open, fixed sights, not needing any adjustments as I took it - new - out of the box. And both the rear and the front sight are dead center in their dovetails. (yes, it has fixed sights so I suppose it could be sold as a gallery gun also)
BUT when I put a scope on the rails it shoots very high and litlle right.
This means that with a scope of small magnification (4x) I have to screw the elevation screw to it's limit and even then it is still 1" high at 10 meters.
When I take a scope of higher magnification, with a narrower range for adjustment, I can't get it right.

Is this common ? What should I do ? Re-arrange the rails so the scope is slightly tilted ? Bring it back in as it is still under warranty ?

I would like to attach a picture is this possible ?

Adjustable mounts

Thanks for the reply.
Yes I know there are adjustable mounts. But they are not needed for my other guns. This is my first case. It kinda hurts to find out your gun is not "straight". Do you have any guns that benefit from adjustable mounts ?

Hi Joris

August 15 2005, 2:20 PM

I sent a response to your email. It looks to me from the pics that the breech seal in the Diana 24 is more off center than the bore by a large margin. It shouldn't cause you a problem if it's sealing properly.

Yes, I use adjustable mounts almost exclusively. They're particularly handy on Magnum springers to keep your scope reticle as close to optical center as possible. I believe this helps with scope life, but I've got nothing to base that on except opinion.

Are you in Belgium? I noticed the .be at the end of your email address. If you are, are you restricted to a 12 fpe limit on your airguns? Some of the techniques I use result from shooting springers in the 15-22 FPE class and may not be important to you.

Honestly, I think Diana should spend a little more time locating their scope rails before they mount them, but most of them work fine with an adjustable mount.

Good Luck----good to hear from you.
