I bought it because it looked, shot and felt clean. HOWEVER, it needs something...lube...spring...seal...all of the above? It's barely registering on the Chrony, and inconsistently at that. Anywhere from the high 100's to the low 300's with 7.5gr pills.
This is not something I have the time, nor inclination for. However, I suspect that one or more of you here may. I'd rate this as 90%+ on the wood and metal both. There are a couple of tiny pin-head points of rust on the blueing that I've NOT attempted to knock-off. You have to look for them to see them. I've got four good airgun sale refs, and dozens in the firearms community.
I'll deliver this to anyone who wants to chance it in the lower-48 for a USPS Money Order of $100.
It's a late 1980 date-code, marked:
RWS
Model 27
That's it. No serial number, nor any other marking. It has the tunnel front post which is tapered to a point, and the 4-position rear blad set-up. There is also a short, tiny, narrow scope rail. No doubt it takes some sort of special mount.
It's the easiest springer I've ever disassembled. It must have sat unused for years as there is old dried lube caked on the inside of the receiver tube.
All it'll need is a cleanout and re-lube & I'll turn it over to my 8 year old son to shoot the crap out of.
Will you be my Dad?LOL! I'm only 31 and house trained! And I promise to share that 27 with your son!LOL!
Really though, I wish someone in Canada would put something like that up for sale. It hurts reading about you lucky U.S. guys finding all of these cool rifles and pistols. I think of you guys as treasure hunters, and I envy you.
as new in the box Gecado 35 that was for sale for CDN $150 CDN and had no takers in Canada. Even included the original factory box and manual (also mint). Not even one enquiry. Go figure ...-RG
that if I'd had the money at the time you were selling your rifle I would have jumped on it. Do you really think that I have any reason to spite you buy not purchasing your rifle? It's not like that man. I don't feel it would have been appropriate of me to say; Hey Ron, would you sit on that rifle for me 'til I can afford it? I know that you are a person of good reputaion, so don't take it personally, at least not from me.
Hey Ron, do you still have that gun. I'm not familiar with the make but it looks sweet. If you still have it, e-mail me with the details. I live in Ottawa but I'll be in the Windsor area working for the next few months.
Cheers, Moe
