Is it s good idea do take apart and clean up an RWS after receiving it ? Brand new I mean ?
I ask because I took apart a Crosman Quest 1000 recently after having bought it on sale and what I found is that it was just plain FILTHY inside. It even had a bunch of shavings from the manufactuing process in the action. Would have done wonders to the piston over a short period of time !
I know that Diana is German engeneering and all and that their quality control should be lightyears ahead of a Chinese made Crosman but it never hurts to ask those with more experience first. Not only that but I realy do like taking things apart and putting back together again. Makes you feel like it really belongs to you.

a good barrel cleaning. But, since you like tinkering it couldn't hurt to take it apart and give it a lube job. I did this to all five of my Diana's, and initially upon dismantling them I found them all to be quite clean inside, also I found very little or no lube. So your new rifle would likely bennifet from some moly in the right places.
What model did you buy?

I got a 52. I just picked it up at the post office right now and WOW ! Im amazed at it ! I got the RWS 1 piece c-mount for my scope and am installing it right now but I dont think i like it too much. it seems kinda weak to me with all those pivot points and all. Other than that, Im very impressed.

I've had a 48 for some time now and it is indeed a wonderfull rifle. I use an apperture sight on mine though, just a personal prefference. Mine is .177cal, what caliber did you get?

Its a .177 as well. I got some a box of heavy and a box of light premiers to test out for mow . then il try some other brands. Ill break the rifle in a little before I start experimenting with too many pellet types. At least 1000 shots or so. Then Ill probably get a sampler from Straightshooters.
I manaed to get the scope on ok for now. Lets see how it handles the recoils tomorrow at the range. If it sucks I hope I can send it back.
