I was cleaning the barrel of my 350 today after ~2000 shots and noticed a heavy lead buildup towards the breech end of the gun. Bristle brushing and cleaning patches were eroding the residue but so SLOWLY! What do all of you use for extremely dirty barrel cleaning? How does regular barrel cleaner for firearms sound? too harsh? is there a good product out there for a really gunky barrel? I got a lot of it cleaned off today but I don't want to spend 3 months straight sending cleaning patches through it just to get it clean. any suggestions?

Kleen Bore "Lead away".

but more important than that, did you lube your pellets?

Use Pledge/Blem or any other silicone based wax. There are others, but this has worked for me in other Diana guns.

I use a .17 cal. rimfire Bore Snake for my .177 cal. air rifles

wertyq,

I did a search on the net and found at eBay a Bore Snake destined for the new .17 rimfire rifles. It has an in-built bronze brush and cleans the bbl with one passage. It is so simple and accuracy returns after having shot 2000 pellets (no need to clean too often).

Is a bronze bristle safe for the rifling? I thought the rule was synthetic bristles and cotton/felt pellets..

No I don't lube my pellets, hector- will that keep the barrel cleaner? (I guess pledge isn't just for tables..)

Yes, it is safe to use bronze on steel

The rifling is made of steel. No bronze brush could harm it. Just after-market barrels for Ruger 10/22s that use soft alloys in their fluted and tentioned broducts ask their customers to remove the bronze brushes from their .22 or.17 cal Bore Snakes, or void the bbl's warranty.
