I wouldnt

I would not use a Trophy for a 48. Legends and Elites yes, trophies no. Not saying that they WILL break just saying that they MAY when a Legend or an Elite very probably wont. Trophies are, according to Straightshooters.com, more of a medium recoil scope, and those guys know what they are talking about. Again dont forget to get a scope with an adjustable objective.
I used this chart when choosing my scope.

Thanks for your advice Helder. The table you provided is very helpful. I have another question though. I bought a Beeman #5040 One Piece Scope Mount and i intent to mount my m48 with probably an Elite scope. However, due to the fact that my scope tends to slighly moves backwards after several shots i decided to purchase this mount because its also a stop mount. Does stop mounts tend to break scopes? Shall i just let the scope moving backwards instead of trying to mount a stop and risk a break?

Use the stop

Dont let your scope creep man, thats a big no-no. Put a stop on it for sure. It is very unlikely that an Elite will ever break even on a 48, I have never heard of it happening before.

Da Trophy

If it's an old Trophy, it'll probably hold up as good as the best. It'll toast a new trophy though.

Problem is, I don't have a clue where the cutoff is.

I used Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40 in my
Diana 350 Magnum 0.22 few years no trouble
anytime this is perfect scope for this
airgun and no too expensive.

Maybe BUT

Ok so your trophy held on tight and his might as well BUT it also might not (especially, as Knobs mentioned, that older ones will do but newer ones wont). Whats the point in buying something and then having to spend more money to buy something else later ? I usually get something that I KNOW will work even if I have to spend a little extra to get it and then I have the peace of mind that I can depend on it for good.
