Anyone know the spring wire diameter for the latest 24's spring?

I heard that the Diana Model 28's spring is .120 inches and the Beeman R7's spring is .109-.110 inches. I would imagine that the Model 24's spring fits somewhere in between the two. Anyone know?

Thanks,

John

This is what I've got for you

Hello John,

I'm not sure about the newer guns or if they've made any changes, but in my older documentation Dynamit Nobel lists part number 300294 for the M24 mainspring or "Druckfeder" as it's said in German...

They ALSO spec the same mainspring for the M25 on the exploded dwg for this gun. I had a spare M25 spring laying around so I miked it for you and it measures .1215" in dia.

This is the best info I have and according to these parts lists/exploded prints it IS the correct spring for both the 24 and the 25.

Hope this helps

Model 24 guts

The 300294 spring was used in the 24D, 24T01, and 24T02.
On the 24T03 and 24T04 the piston, guide, mainspring, cocking lever and many other parts were altered.
I assume that these changes carried through to the 24T05.
I think this is referred to as "value engineering".
i.e using lower cost parts in places where nobody will notice.
The 24T05 "F" spring is 29 coils, of .105" wire with an ID of .560".
The thin plastic spring guide has an OD of .545" - most generic springs such as Diana 25/27, Weihrauch H30/R1, Macarri XL Light will not fit on it.
The piston has an ID of more than .900" and most suitable springs will be sloppy if the piston is not sleeved.
Diana air rifles have come a long way down in design and quality since the glory days of the 25,27,35,50,60,and 75.

Thanks for the great replies, Skillet and RossB! That's some really great info there. RossB, regarding the "F" spring that you mention, does the "F" mean that it is a spring for a lower power version of the Model 24(like a German power level restriction version)? If it is, does it mean that there is a different spring in the higher power Model 24(like those sold in the USA by RWS), possibly with a larger wire diameter?

Thanks again,

John

26/28 Spring

October 3 2005, 2:50 PM

Current production 26/28s apparently share the same piston seal and spring guide as current 24s.
The current .120 wire 26/28 springs Parts #303236 (reduced power) and #301401 (full power) could fit and boost power in a 24.
There is room for 4.5" of coil bound .120" spring in a 24.
4.5"/.120"= 37.5 coils less two for safery factor = 35.5 coils
Be sure to specify the spring by part number.
Early 26/28s used the #300374 spring out of the 27.
Early 24s used the #300294 spring out of the 25.
These are both .110 wire with a .510ID.
These springs will not fit on the current guides and will be sloppy in the new pistons.
