stock finish?

Does anyone know what kind of finish is used on the newer RWS rifles? I need to do some touch ups.Thanks,Gary

I betcha they'd tell you.
Thier website is DNRWS.com. They don't respond to their email web-form, but they do answer their phone.

Just got off the phone with RWS in Jersey about the finish that is used on these rifles,shellac.The tech that I spoke with said to use clear nail polish to seal the wood so that no moisture can get in,otherwise strip the stock and refinish.

AFAIK, shellac is that old stuff that water-stains. I wonder if he meant laquer or something?
Nonetheless, makes me wonder if beech would look better with an oil finish.

beech stains funny,I've read of sealers aplied first to even things out...

and I'd recomend dyes(water or alcohol base)not oil stains.Based on the couple RWS guns I've stripped,the original finish is a tinted laquer.
