Hi, I've been researching air pistols for a little while now, and I need a little help choosing one that fits my needs. I want one that:

1.Is under $200 (I'm willing to stretch this a little if it's really worth it)

2. Can use .177 BB's (I might be able to do without, but I'd really rather not)

3.Will serve as a replacement for a Crosman Pumpmaster 760 rifle. This is rated at a bit over 600fps, so I want something as close as possible to that (for breaking bottles and popping holes through cans at a reasonable distance) I'm not too familiar with how powerful the fps ratings are, but I'm guessing that something at least 500fps would be needed for that stuff.

4. One action pump/cock is preffered, but I can settle for a multi-pump gun.

I do not care if it's 1 shot, and I'm not an expert marksman, so the accuracy only need not be "terrible". The only reason I don't just go with another inexpensive rifle is because I want something smaller that is more practical for indoor shooting aswell as outdoor bottle/can detroying. My requirements may be a little too strict though...:/

air pistol

I'm no expert but I have shot a friends Ben Sheridan Pump (Mod.HB-17 I think)It is a good plinker and will bust a starling out to about 20 yards, will shoot a varity of pellets well, can be scoped easily, but you will work your b--t off pumping it..177 cal.shoots at about 400-425 fps.
RWS 5 G Magnum,I have this model (for about 3 months)it shoots 500 to 525 fps.with many different pellets, all the above applies except scope mounting that is a no go although I have seen a couple with scopes,it also has adjustable two stage trigger. This is a springer so one stroke cocking.
For the money you mentioned the 5G my be what you are looking for.Just my .02 cents worth.
Hope this helps,
Gary

I agree with Gary,

I have an HB22, the .22 version of the Benjamin he mentioned and it is a great pistol, accurate, and decent power shooting Gamo Match @ 400fps. I also have the Diana P5 Magnum(RWS 5G Magnum)in .177, and it's great, 535fps with JSB Schak 8gr. It is very accurate, but does take some time to break in and learn the right hold. Two much cheaper alternatives would be the Crosman 1377 or the Marksman 2004(HW40 clone), I have both and they are very accurate. The Crosman is very easy to tune up, but it's a multi-pump. I shoot the 2004 alot more, single stroke pnuematic, 410fps with 7.5gr ammo, and incredibly accurate with a red dot.

Of all these, I enjoy my Diana P5 the most. Great pistol,

Mulby

I second the P5

I second (or third?) the vote for the P5, but with the P5 remeber, NO BB's, unless you want to shoot lead ones. Otherwise it is a great pistol, wonderful trigger and sights. It definitely has its own personality which you'll have to get used to but I love my P5. I have a few benjamin rifles and a sheridan and after shooting those I have no idea how your hands and arms would cope with pumping up a little pistol just to shoot 1 shot. Seems like the exertion would give you the shakes and ruin your aim. I know it becomes an issue with me when I try to fire repeated shots from my pumpers with no rest interval. I think spring piston is the way to go for a pistol, or (gah!!) CO2..

Thanks for all the replies I took a gander at that Crosman 1377 which Mulby suggested, and when I looked at the price for such a sweet gun, I couldn't resist (it's not designed for BB's, but upon further research I have found that pellets really aren't as expensive as I thought they were, I just can't be buying thousands of high grade ones). Thanks for the feedback and info
