Hi.

I just got a Diana mod 48 (.177 version) and I'd like to lower its sound level. Does any one knows about what kind of silencer I could use on it? I'm in France, I don't think there are particular laws about silencers here.. (I once had a paintball gun with a silencer and never get any trouble)

thanks!

Speaking to myself :-)

FYI: Well since my last post I had some news after having sent an email to Diana in Germany. They replied to me with the French importer email address, I got in touch with this company and, Abracadabra, my gunsmith will be able to order a silencer for Diana 48!

I dunno the price yet however. Diana answered about 10 minutes after I filled the contact on their web site and the importer was also fast, I never found a mass product manufacturer and its importer answering to queries at such a speed.

BTW Diana also wrote me that they'll get an English version of their web site beginning of 2006.

Bernard,

Thanks for letting everyone know. I guess I will be waiting for early 2006 to see it on their website. It would be great to greatly reduce the sound when the 48 fires so that my neighbors won't know when I shoot it for the annoying squirrels in my backyard.

cool

Wow I didnt know there was a silencer made specifically for the Dianas. One word of advice tho, dont expect any miracles. Springers are still noisy, even when silenced. A lot of the noise in a springer doesnt come from the muzzle.

Leadslug from the Airgun Forum has a sweet one on his RWS54

It came from Europe IIRC, it threads onto an adapter that is pressfit onto the barrel...

Blackpool Air Rifles sells silencers for the RWS guns as well as others...

Regards,

Tony

noise, springers

December 2 2005, 1:12 AM

I'm getting a silencer just to be able to shoot without having the neighbors think that I use a firearm (like a .22). At the moment the 48 sound is too loud, and if someone peers throu the fence, he/she may think that I'm using a real weapon.

Nearly all people has no firearm and becomes nervous if you have one or even only seem to have one (we were happy of the laws against firearms during october events: nobody shot).

Many if not all are not aware of the near 25 joules I get from the 48, I just want them to understand that I have an air gun and that I'm not playing Rambo.

So hearing a mechanical noise instead of a 'bang', or a pop more 'small air gun like' is enough for me, I just need a "psychological silencer"

Michael,

That makes two of us who would like to see this item. Would definitely like to make my 48 quieter so that the neighbors don't know I am shooting it.

Silencing the 48...

December 6 2005, 12:15 PM

...just remove the spring and piston.

What kind of noise are you getting? All I hear is mechanical stuff, no combustion or air sounds.

You can cut a coil or two from the spring....

December 8 2005, 7:03 AM

...it's gonna lower the noise a bit, perhaps improve accuracy and slighly reduce power.
