I am considering the 48 for long range pest control and some plinking, but I was wondering if it makes much noise. I currently shoot a Benj 392 and that isnt too bad at full power, however it isnt quite what I need.
I have heard that springers are quiet but I am not sure about such a powerful gun. I actually have a few acres of land but my neighbors are nuts.
Thanks for this link. In the end I dont think that I can find anything else near the power of the 48 in the $300 range.
It would be interesting to see how the PCP or even simple multipumps compared. For example - how would a BSA Star Tech compare. My guess is that they would be much louder.
Also - with the exception of the Kodiak - there seems to be a correlation between power and noise. That makes sense of course. Thanks again.
I have a 48 in .22 caliber and it is louder than my Crosman 760 at max pump or my Tech Force 41 in .177. I purchased the Tech Force to take care of squirrels in my backyard without disturbing my neighbors. I only live on 1/3 acre so the 48 which definitively has the power but it made me a bit nervous because of the loudness of it. If you are on several acres, I don't think it would pose a problem. I use my 48 on my friend's ranch to help him eliminate squirrels. It is a great hunting airgun. Accuracy and knockdown power easily to 50 yards. Using a Leapers TS 3-9X40mm scope with illuminated recticles without a problem shooting through one tin of pellets. Make sure to purchase a one piece adjustable scope mount like the RWS C mount. After speaking with the RWS tech, all of their airguns have barrel droop so you will need to raise the rear mount one full turn counterclockwise over the front mount. Found out the hard way when my local dealer suggested I have both mounts the same height.
one .177 the other .22, love them both. I also have a 397, and it seems louder than either of my 48's at 8 pumps. Of course, with the 5 pumps I usually shoot it at it's less noisy than alot of guns.
The 48's are great guns, accurate and powerfull, and very fun to shoot.
