Hi everyone, i am new to the forum and also new to the sport. i bought a model 48 .177 w/ a BSA AR 4-12X44 AO about 6 months ago and have had no problem with the scope. i have read alot of forums, including this one, where peoples scopes are breaking with diana magnums(mod 48,52,54). so far this scope and gun is flawless in performance and i have shot roughly 1,000 - 1,200 rounds (using 10.5 premiers)through the gun and scope. it has also hit a granite floor twice, and then takes varmint from about 65 yards!!!! this gun will hit 50 yards all day. i dont use any dampener for the scope either. i find this set up to work great for me. did anyone have a bad experience with this scope because i dont hear much about it???
ps. i also dont have the back ring of the scope elevated over the front (due to barrel droop?), will that damage the scope in the long run? all resposes are welcome
I have been looking very closely at the option of a 48 in .22 but am very confused about which scope and mounts to use with it as everyone has a different opinion. With the BSA on sale right now I will probably go for that but please let me know how you mounted it. Also interested in the fact that you say you did not have to adjust the rear mount for the barrel droop.
to be honest i dont know the type of scope mount i have, all i know is that they are for rifles, whatever you do, make sure you get heavy duty scope mounts because that gun will destroy the cheap crap mounts very quickly, the guy at the gunshop has never seen anything like it before!!! but about the barrel droop, i never raised the rear of the scope and have no problems.
