If its synthetic the cylinder wall should be smooth, not honed. Honing creates tiny grooves that holds lubricant. Thats good for leather seals as it keeps them moisturized, but synthetic seals will pick up the lube and push it into the compression chamber, causing detonation. Smooth walls and synthetic seals also make for better compression. Your best bet is to leave it be and just replace the seal. If you do try to hone the cylinder and don't know exactly what you are doing you may end up with an ID thats a bit oversized, and the seal will no longer fit right.
