Even though it lacks a "search" feature, this is a pretty cool board! I wandered across it doing a websearch looking for more info on my new Diana/RWS P5, and have already read lots of great advice...and I'm only 5 pages deep into it now!
Although I live in the city, my work as a land surveyor often takes me out into the "boonies", where I can get a chance to hone my shooting skills. I've always loved the art of shooting...whether firearms, airguns, or even slingshots or blowguns...it's all a kind of mental discipline requiring a type of focus and attention to the moment...sort of like the "Zen" approach to archery, if you know what I mean.
So far, I'm very pleased with the P5. I have less than 500 pellets through it, as yet, but I can already see that this pistol is capable of challenging my own abilities... that is to say, if I can't get decent groupings, it's not the gun's fault. It's a little bulky for the type of off-hand shooting I prefer with pistols, but I think I can get used to it. I just hope I don't run across any of the safety problems with it I've noticed in some posts here. If I do, maybe I'll get a Canadian version!
Thanks for providing us with this great forum...and long live The Goddess of the Hunt!
I too have a P5, but mine is the Canadian version without the safety. I've got about 2000rnds through mine and it is a very nice accurate shooter. After another tin of pellets you should notice it settling down further, and with the experience of those next 500 pellets you will likely find it even more accurate, partly because of the practice you'll have with it. What kind of pellets do you use in it? Mine seems to prefer JSB Schak 4.5mm for accuracy and energy. I use a two handed hold with mine and it's a lot of fun to plink cans out to 30+ yards. It's my favorite pistol.
