Your accuracy will go Bye Bye. Seriously. You need to hold the rifle in your hand, not even put it on a sandbag. Or put your hand on the sandbag and the gun on your hand. The 54 can use a bipod because of the recoil mechanism but the 48 doesnt have one. Just to tes out what Im saying, if you still feel like doing this, shoot a group at 30 40 yards with the gun rested directly on a sandbagh and then with the rifle rested on your hand. You will notice the difference immediately Im sure.
Helder
I have a BSA bipod (they make the adaptor that uses the stock mounting hole). I also have a Swift 6.5-20 scope and a cheek rest. And a sling. Oye. However, the accuracy is excellent. I can easily put a bunch of JSB's in a dime size or smaller hole at 30 yards. 40 yrds too, but I don't have that much yard so to speak. I jsut hold the gun steady and allow it to jump as it wants to.
So long as you don't give it the grip of death and allow it to move, bipods will be ok, in my opinion.
