I picked up a Bubble Pack of Gamo Raptors today from WM. They REALLY are Gold! Just a "wash", but they certainlly do have that special slippery precious metal "feel" to them! Price was just under $5 for 100.

They look sort of like a shiney Gold Crosman Point!

Tried a couple thru my .177 Webly Tempest in the garage tonite and they actually DO increase the velocity.Flight time @ 6m is noticiblly quicker!

Gonna be fun trying these out when I get a chance, in my Low Velocity rifles and some pistols too!

All that glitters is not gold

Saw the Gamo pellets at SHOT show. Pellets are very light and I suspect very hard. Zinc most likely. I think the pistons in spring guns will suffer.

I totally agree!

 Mac,

This is why I just tried a couple. Maybe the pistols will do OK velocity wise, but  except for giggles, I am not going to feed anything a diet of em.

One of those pellet tins ya save, mostlly full...

How is the accuracy

March 5 2006, 5:40 PM

of those hi-speed pellets?

Tech Question- When I try to post a new message the screen always goes back to my last sent post and falls under that post heading, I can respond to any post but cannot start a new one.I even created a new log in but it does the same thing. My computer or a network problem? I use the Crosman and Yellow forum without any problems
Final question:
I'm trying to find specs on the Winchester 423, Redfeather advises it is a Diana mod 23, It does'nt have a serial # but is dated 09 69 , and made in Germany, I'll chrono it this week at work but would like to know what the original specs were, realizing of course that todays given specs, velocity wise are not "quite" dead on either. I plan on letting my kids shoot it as I did.

Re: How is the accuracy

 Bill,

Go back to the Main Index ( There's a mall underlined heading at right top of every page).  Then click on "Post" and you can start a new topic.

The reason you go back to the origonal post is probablly that the site thinks you're answering "that" post... Just always use the Main Index "Post
and your problem should cease, OK?

BBA#4 quotes the .177 Winchester 423 as being capable of 480fps. I have a Hy-Score variat, and can attest to that figure. Hard hitting little things!

I haven't really tested the Gamos for accuracy yet. The ones I did shoot, shot similar groups to a Crosman Point though. (The trajectory is about 30% flatter at 20 yards). Avoid letting the kids fool with these though, as potential richoets will be worse than with a steel BB. The additional edges of the Diabolo pellet shape could be even a worse safety hazard too.

 HTH,

 ZVP

Thanks,but..

I did try on the main index. When I hit the post now key (on the main index) the screen always goes back to my last message sent. I can edit that message but cannot edit the original message info that is high-lighted in blue, therefore I am stuck replying under that message. My other option is to respond to someone else's message.
To sum it up:I cannot start an original message. The post key always shows my last message.
I was originally able to start with a clean message box until a couple of days ago.
I'm baffled.

 Bill,

I'm really sorry, ya got me there... I don't know what could be going on? I am in no way good at computers, I'm just a shooter who owns one.

I KNOW that these pop-ups are getting vile and perhaps one could have upset your "security" settings? I just turned my SBC "blocker" up to HIGH and it's done no good here... I honestlly do not understand what could have happened with your system. Do you have any buddies who understand computers pretty well? Maybe they could lend you a hand?

I sure hope you can get it figgured out!
