My 48 is a few years old now and I'm starting to think about some maintenance. First, what kind of seal does this gun have? Is it leather or synthetic? And has anyone gotten the Jim Maccari Monolith "full power" spring for this gun? Is it more powerful than the original factory spring? I see there's also a Maccari tune kit including this spring along with seal and spring guides. Does installing this kid constitute a significant improvement to the gun? Thanks for all comments, advice, etc.

Oh, another thing: The rubber grip at the end of the cocking arm is wearing through and breaking apart. Where can I get another one?

Think i read it on the 'canadian airgun forum' (google it) then search for 'diana 52 monolith' in the forum

Monolith & the 48

I don't have extensive experience with the monolith kit. It is a full power kit, and you will need to buy the kit. I installed a monolith spring in a 48 just to get a feel of how hard it would be to cock ( Not bad at all ) and it shattered the factory delrin guide in one shot.

You need a steel guide in the 48 when using the monolith spring.
