I saw a post a few weeks ago about inexpensive RWS 300 R rifles @ Midsouth . After seeing the post I found thier site and purchased a 46E from them. The rifles main spring broke the first week I had it. Was this just a fluke, or has this happened to anyone else?
I 'm sure this failure was simply "one of those things". Normally even with these powerfull air rifles Mainsprings will last years, (sometimes decades) without spring breakage. Usually they only require simple maintance.
You need to contact RWS, via the terms in your owners paperwork and providing that you did nothing to cause this failure, they will honor their Warranty 100%!
I have had a Sear fail on an RWS product (an RWS Model-9 Pistol) and RWS USA totally replaced the Pistol with a "Brand New" one at NO charge! The Company is VERY good at honoring their word.
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping it was just "one of those things". I already sent the rifle in to the RWS repair center. My dealing with them has been wonderful so far.
The reason I asked, is that I had my eye on a RWS 300R. But did want want to be a sucker and buy another defective rifle from Midsouth. The prices from Midsouth are almost "too good" to be true. Hopefuly it was just the one in a few thousand defective rifles.
Just this afternoon, my brand new Beeman R-11 ate it's Leapers Full Size Mil-Dot Sniper scope! Yea, I took about 15 shots, then the view through the scope turned into a twisted Kalidoscope, the near impercievable Crosshairs and series of Dot's now swirl to even worse, blurred edges!
Gee, I was told these "TS" models were magnum airgun rated? Oh well...
Joe are you saying that your mainspring broke or you've had no problem?

Joe are you saying that your mainspring broke or you've had no problem? I've had mines for about 2-3 months and put 300 pellets through it with no problem.
The RWS 46 from Midsouth is a good deal and a honest sweet shooting air rifle.
I've heard of heavy pellets like as a steady diet is bad for your spring rifle, I do shoot the CPHs in my B20 almost as a steady diet, but I occassionally shot lighter pellets just to give the spring rest. But my RWS 46E is more accurate then my much beloved Beeman.
The Midsouth RWS 46E is not a refurb or problem rifle. You just got a bad one.
From Midsouth and have not had 1 problem with it. I did notice that the gun had some what of a rough shot cycle. There was more vibration then I wanted and lots of recoil. It felt like I was shooting my M350. I ordered a GST kit from J Maccari and it made a world of difference! Granted I lost about 25-30 fps across the board ( and this gun doesn't have fps to spare) it was a worthy trade off. Now the firing behavior is much smoother and quieter. I've always wanted a Diana under lever and several times almost bought a M46, but I'm glad I got the 300R. The multi shot feature is a big bonus. You do have to count shots cause I dry fired it once already. Accuracy, like all Diana's I've owned is excellent. I'm very pleased with it.
That RWS 300R sounds sweet I can only imagine a repeating 46.

That RWS 300R sounds sweet I can only imagine a repeating 46. Must be nice and you tuned it probably as smooth as ice, My RWS 46E has a little bit of recoil to it but its still very accurate and about 865-870fsp not bad for a mid-powered springer, firing the Beemans field trophy. Its a 1 holer at 10-15 yards.
