The rifle has about 50 rds through it ..it required the blow of a deab blow hammer and a wooden dowel to move the piston..that dry .the piston was mollied as was the spring and the spring ends the guide and the rear of the piston ..but not wanting to nick the piston seal against the slot ( may be already done at the factory ) without haveing a replacement handy I left it alone .
It is reduceing performance to the tune of 700 in .5.5 w cpls should be around 850+/-.
should I just break it in more , lube it with silicone oil ...or tear it down and emery the seal some and molly it .

TIA

Regards , Frank

Well, since you already took it apart, i'd say moly the seal.
Altough mine wasnt as dry as yours, i took it apart after exactly 3 shots.

Already the seal had vague burn marks (brownish color on the seal where it touches the cilinder, and tiny strings of the seal were already coming loose)

Putting the seal and piston back in without damaging it is quite simple, especially if you are with 2 people for a brief moment so that one person can push the end of the seal in with the flat end of a screwdriver, while the other person gently pushes in the piston ...

p.s: could you chrony the gun after the lube, and post the results in the 'honest velocity thread' below with pellet weight ?
That would be great.
