Just got my RWS 46 its a nice safe gun I'm really impressed. This gun is very well made solid mostly metal, balance and accurate right out of the box. I started with a Gamo 4x32 it took 3 minutes to zero, I took the lesson learnt on the yellow forum that scope and mount means alot. So I mounted a 1 piece adjustable B-square mount with BSA 3x9x44 AO and again it zero'd in 5-6 minutes. This is a nice looking air rifle with impressive workmanship, I'd recommend it to a friend and would consider buying it in .22. Mines is in .177 and it shooting 860fps with Beeman FT lights. A tune would make this thing great!! The triggers ok, I haven't made the adjustment yet to make it as light as I like, but its not bad now.

This thing shots 1 hole groups that turned into 10-15 shot jagged hole groups, it is a quailty made rifle thats shoots better then my 1 year old 97 but not as smooth yet, now this is the TF97 (chinese under level) not the HW97 .

Photos are coming soon!!

Want another 46?

April 21 2006, 2:44 PM

Don,
I just repeated an attempt at sighting in my 46, and continue to stay pretty disgusted. This thing can't do an 1.5" group at 75 feet. I've got an old Weaver 4x on it, the second scope to validate the opticals aren't the problem. Super H, SuperDome, CrowMagnums all do the same lousy patterns. Pretty sure it's not me - I can hit a nicket every time at 100 yards with a single shot Remington 514 22.

I'm grasping for ideas before I sell it at a garage sale for cheeeep.

Thanks for any thoughts..

Tom

Hi you sound like a veteran of fire arms, its a little different with a AR...

Hi you sound like a veteran of fire arms, its a little different with a AR, I suggest 2-3 things. To make sure its not the rifle I'd benchrest it on a rolled towel or something soft and sight it in at 10-15 yards. Also while shooting stay in the scope for a second don't move quickly after you pull the trigger. Like ole snipers say watch were the round strikes the target. Now is in this scenario my RWS 46E will put 5 pullets in the same hole easy, maybe 8-10!!! I've shot 20 and the holes a jagged hole BC I messed up. By example my Gamo S1k or Beeman will shoot jagged holes at this range and will make consistent hits on 4" clays out 65 easy and 8 out 10 times at 80 yards, pending the wind. And my RWS 46 seems fair more accurate then the Gamo r the Beeman.

I'd check your stock screws, mounts and rings, then do what I suggested above. If that doesn't work ship it to Me, I'll buy another this things is a piece of work that I'm proud to own. I hope yours is in .22, even if its not I'll take another 46 in .177 cheap!!

Stay in touch.

My RWS 46 E shhots too low

April 21 2006, 7:06 PM

Just got mine and the plain stock appears walnut or properly stained to look walnut. When I tested shooting it at my indoor facility which is less than 10 yards, the group is waaay looow. That was using factory open sights. I used up all the elevation adjustment possible with the factory sight, but was not able to come close to point of vertical aim. Windage was fine.

So I borrowed the 4x scope on a Mac1 drooper mount from my FWB 124. Despite of the drooper mount, the gun is still shooting low. Any ideas guys? Thanks

Re: rws 46e stock

Hello,
My 46E does not have a cheek piece, no checkering, and no pronounced high comb like some fancier stock. In my opinion and based on my brief use of the gun, the comb is high enough for scope use. I wish I know how to post pictures. The stock is simply plain style without the things described above. Although all my rifles have checkering on them, I prefer no checkering if I have a choice.

These things are no good I'll buy yours too!!

These things are no good I'll buy yours too!! Just playing don't know much about the factory sights except they are metal and seem well made. If its shooting low aim right at the target instead of under it. What I'd really suggest is something I do know put a nice scope on it with a 1 piece mount.
And you got a rifle that will stack pellets at 10-15 yards.
I'm getting amazing (for me) groups out my RWS 46E not even the fancy one, the rifles putting a round inside same hole I think I missed until I do it again and again.

I use to not believe and couldn't produce better groups with a fixed barrel air rifle then I could with my break barrels. BC my break barrels where just as accurate. But since this Baby's come home its apparent that the rumors are true this fixed barrel rifle can definitely shoots tighter groups then my break barrel. Would it be my 1s choice as a hunting rifle, No. Because my are break barrels are lighter and accurate enough, but could it do it, NO doubt in my mind, but I don't want to get it scratchted up. This is a Cherry rifle IMHO, 5 shoots in 1 hole even if I'm lazy benched. And I'm not that good a shot. I'm shooting the Beeman FT lights in .177. My Beeman will do this too but I have to concentrate more.

Which RWS 46 do you own? Is it in .22?

Don,
I have the .177 caliber. As you already said, the accuracy is great, it is almost as accurate as my FWB 300S. Once I have the time to lighten and smooth the trigger pull, I think it will even shoot much better. To answer my own question, what I will do is buy an adjustable mount because the droop on my Mac1 mount is not enough. The factory must have put too much droop on this particular gun. I don't really need the factory sights, it is just an advantage if it works.

Sorry, I am not ready to sell it now without trying an adjustable mount first. All the .177 cal for the 46E appears to have been sold out.
