Dave,
Glad to have been some help!
I sorta like them also! I upgraded the hardware on one for use on my .177 RWS Model-40 Magnum. So far it's held up to this hard-kicking rifle! I'm using a BSA Variable A/O Airgun scope on it, and it seems to be able to hold that weight OK...
Leapers makes a really GOOD holding set of two ring mounts too! They feature a solid drop-pin, which fixes the rings in place on guns that have pre-drilled holes to "stop" mount's shift.
He-He, I probablly have MORE hours of work, worry, adjustment, and dissambly (and a little money), in THAT rifle than on ANY one I've ever owned! It has a reduced velocity JM GSI Mainspring (read: removed from another gun as, being a little "weak" for another shooter) That Mainspring is near perfect on my Model-40 though! It's tamed the snappy, sharp, "stock" Mainsprings old recoil, and added a very consistant and smooth discharge firing behavior to this gracefull, very long length, rifle! Actually, the velocity on this M-40 is probablly just around 800fps. It STILL hits quite HARD and groups pretty good out at 50 yards! I sure like that JM wire!
I modified the trigger blade via a suggestion on the "Unoffical RWS Model-54 Site" and some very helpfull suggestions posted by Russ Best on "the Yellow Forum" (** Simply carefully filing some trigger stock off to allow for more screw adjustment). Setting the Pull Weight and primarilly, ensuring for some First Stage pre-travel).
FINALLY(!), I think I'm pleased with my perplexing Diana Model 40...
