About 2 mo. ago I pestered the Net about the RWS 24. Bought Dad one and it shoots fine. Sub to 1" groups at 20 yds are the norm under perfect conditions. Here is the question. I visited Mon nd Dad last week. Did a lot of target shooting with various pellets. Most did pretty well. JSB Diabolo shot best. Then about seven shots went up and down in about a 4" verticle string! with the last shot about 4" below center. We adjusted the scope up and the gun returned to 1"+/- groups for the next 20 or so final shots. Would appreciate any comments. Can a scope come lose internally then return to normal? Thanks David

Vertical stringing in Diana 24 ...

May 9 2006, 4:58 PM

Is most probably due to fluctuations in velocity and related to the perfpormance of the powerplant rather than a problem with the scope/mount .I assume you do not have access to a chronograph or we would have confirmed this already , the most likely culprit would be a dry seal needing lubrication .
If it were an older more used gun I would have included a broken spring but in this case I doubt it .
This calls for a teardown , degreaseing , deburring , and lubrication with high quality lubes.

Regards ,
Frank

It's a velocity problem to vertically string like that.I bet it has a broken spring.
