I'm about to change the spring in my 34 years old Diana 35.

I wounder if someone could guide me through the steps I have to take or atleast check if the steps below is the right way of doing it.

Looking at this picture this is that I think I'll have to start with:

1. Remove screw 300200, 301693, 300621 and 300130 to separete the stock from the mechanism.
2. Remove 300606 to open the back of the mech.
3. Remove the pins 300604, 300612 and 300605 to be able to remove 300602.
4. Remove 300598, 300337 300336,300338 and 300601 (note to self: dont loose 3x 300337 :P )
5. Remove the spring.
6. Remove 300578 and unscrew 300292 and change 301256.

7. Insert 300578.
8. Insert the spring.
9. Insert 300598 and the thing with the BB's.
12. Insert 300602.
10. Compress the spring (don't know how yet..).
11. Insert the 300604,300612 and 300605.
12. Put 300606 back on.

Is the part with the BB's inserted into 300602 and is it 300604 and 300605 that keeps it together?

You don't have to unscrew 301693.
remove the triggerunits by removing 300605
remove pin 300612
before removing 300604 be sure to have plenty of pressure on the back end of the action (or mechanism as you call it). If you remove 300604 the entire locking mechanism shoots out because of the tension on the mainspring. Best is to use a springcompressor (take a look at http://www.tumke.nl/demontage/index.html )
Be sure not to lose 300338 and 300601. They tend to shoot out when removing 300336.

If you never done this before make sure to take a good look on how the locking mechanism is put together when you take it apart. It saves you some puzzling later on.

Sticking it together is simply doing everything in revese order. Stick the 3 x 300337 into the 300336 with some moly paste to keep them in place.

I build myself a spring compressor for the 35 (take a look http://www.tumke.nl/veercompressor/index.html )

I don't think you will be able to read the text on the above mentioned internet pages. If you wonder, they are in dutch.

good luck...

My dad and I did this two weeks ago on his Diana 35.  We used a GSI mainspring from Jim Maccari and the gun shoots more solid.  It shoots and feels better than new.  The only thing we did not check was the condition of the leather seal.  This model has a lot more parts to it than my RWS 52.   Just remember how everything was removed and put it back the same way.  You absolutely need to make yourself a spring compressor.  There is too much tension on the spring to do this replacement.  Good Luck!!!!
