I've read on the Reviews forum of RWS 34/36/40/94 trigger breaking!! What could cause this? Too much continued pressure after the trigger breaks? Or sqeezing/pulling trigger to the side instead of straight back.

I'm just wondering how hard is it to put in one of the metal triggers advertised here. I was thinking that it was just a comestic thing, now I might consider it.

But I know people who have owned their RWS rifles stock for years and have had no problem with the trigger breaking. Is this a user problem or a QC problem?

Breaking triggers

June 9 2006, 2:57 PM

I'm not going to say that a plastic trigger on a RWS (or any other make/model) air rifle couldn't ever break. But I believe that most of those stories are just that, stories. Probably from people with an axe to grind with Diana "because there is a plastic trigger blah blah". Lets face it the firearm (and airgun) industry has been using "plastic" for years and when was the last time you heard of a Glock pistol failing. And that was the scare tactic when the polymer (Plastic) framed auto pistols started to come out. People said they would melt in the heat,  crack in the cold and wouldn't last among other things. The factory spring guides in most air rifles are plastic (some form of synthetic). I would think that that guide would be subjected to more stress over potentially thousands of shots then the trigger or safety tab ever would. They use them for cost and weight savings, but I don't believe they are any more prone to fail then a alloy casting. Just my opinion.

First time I heard of it. My RWS 48 works just fine with the plastic trigger.

I did purchase a metal trigger just because I like metal instead of plastic. Be prepared to pay as my metal trigger was over $80.00 but it a work of art. Worth it probably not when one figures it does just what a plastic one does very well.

"Since you are really only renting your airguns for a time, which ones are worth the payments and which aren't? What gives you the most satisfaction and enjoyment? That's what you want to buy. If you think about it in that light, you'll always know whether something is "worth it" or not." Tom Gaylord Airgun Review #2 page 86.
