Hi Im sort of NEW at air gunning .

I have 2 RWS 34's one in .177 and one in .22.

Each have about 500 shots through them and seem fine . ( Other than slightly hard cocking and a slight twang and loud ) ( NOT DIESELING )

I would like the guns tunned but am not sure WHO to send them to in the USA ?

I am quite handy and have tools etc . I would try it myself --actually I would rather learn and do it myself to know and understand the gun better . But Am afraid of
1 . The spring and know I'd have to build a spring compressor ( No Problem there )

2. Where do I get all the PROPER LUBES AND PARTS ?
( different lubes / tars etc / seals pistions etc and trigger ?

Soooooo Can anyone recomend any GOOD - REASNABLE TUNNERS ? and or a source of parts and DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS ?? as to what tar / goes where what oil / greese goes where / and what parts get polished and burred and at what point ??

Thanks I know this is a lengthy requesy and maybe should have been a 2 part request .

Jerry

You can do your own home tune job and it will help smooth out the gun, but. Y ou need some tooling unless you purchase an aftermarket tune kit which is something I can not get here.I have home tuned my RWS 54 .22cal at my fathers shop with help of his machining expertise and lathe. On my rifle we installed a new factory spring and piston as the spring broke after 6500 shots. I believe there are some other springs such as Maccari etc that can be installed and are of a better design. The delrin guide the spring is fitted to can be of a tighter tolerance fit to the spring and a top hat at the piston end of the spring can be installed to help keep the spring centered for less twang. All of these things help and most can be purchased aftermarket or if you have tooling you can make everything youself, it is a good project and you will learn how your gun works. WARNING be carefull disassembling as the spring is under great pressure uncocked and if you can do not disassemble the trigger unit, it is very tricky to mess with. I have used molybdemun disulfide grease and it works very well on the spring and outer cylinder smoothing the action out.

After all these mods were performed on my gun it shot very quiet and much smoother, but it still takes time for the new piston and spring to seat in. My velocities incresed by about 45 feet / second from 805 to an average 850 with 14.5 gr pellets.

Good Luck
