high guys , new here , and thought i would come to the experts for advice . back at the end of april i bought a mod 40 for the farm varmets , (not for them to use , but to be used on them). i have hunted with the bow and arrow , and guns all my life , im not a begenner . but i am to shooting an adult airrifle . so here is my question , i bought the mod 40 , couldnt shoot a group under 3 inches outside to outside , new there was something wrong . so i sent it back to be looked at , and or repaired , the repair shop had it from may the first till today , july the fifth , they said the scope was bad , and sent a new one , i took it to the bench and soon was shooting dime sized groups at 20 yards , so i knew that with the rite pellet and break in , it would get better , i walked back to the pond , shooting at things , getting used to it , and soon i couldnt hit nothing , took it back to the bench , and discoverd the scope went bad , does this accure often with the rws scopes and shoul d i look to buy something else . another brand , it seems funny two scopes within 200 shots , or am i just unlucky . any advice would be appreciated ,, i love the rifle , and it shoots just fine ,, hoot gibson

RWS Scopes

July 6 2006, 1:21 AM

Hi Hoot
I have 2 Mod. 34's I just bought .One has the RWS model 300 scope 4 x 32 WITHOUT AO and the other has the RWS Model 350 scope . The 300 (cheep one ) is on the .177 and the 350 is on the .22 ( Better scope )

On each gun / scope I have about 500- 700 shots through them . So far I have no problems.

I Hope I don't !! I have inquired about who makes the RWS scope and no one seems to know ?????

The Model 350 is a really sweet scope with clearer view and better cross hairs and is longer and has AO .

Both these scopes are mounted on the RWS 1 Peice Solid C-mount. The mounts have come loose!!! and also so did my gun mount screws ( Gun to Stock ) the RWS 34 is a hard kicking springer , not sure what yours is but check all the mounting screws and scope bases etc , I might have to Blue lock-tite mine in .

But I am waiting before I do that as I am goingto do my own tune with a JM spring and the better spring lubes and the cleaning etc . at same time will touch up the trigger if and any os there to SAFELY TOUCH UP !!!

Take care .......Jerry
