I am wondering if what I THINK is happening is or has happend to anyone else .

I have 2 new RWS 34's ( .177 & .22 ) I have all different types and brands pellets for each caliber .

If lets say I am shooting the .22 and using a certain RWS 14.5 grain pellet and it's hitting fine with good accuracy , and then I try let's say Brand A and Brand B and even if it was only a different style weight RWS pellet.

If I go back to the original RWS pellet that giving good accuracy , I find that the first 2 -5 shots are not very good , but after those 2 - 5 shots it settles back down to good shots ???

Also I usually shoot in the morning the guns are kept out in the garage soo the temp of the guns is about the same as the outside air and so are the pellets .

But my first 2 -10 shots are kinda all over the 9 / 10 ring ?? Then the gun settles down and the accuracy is where it was when i last fired it . This is using the same pellet as the last firing .

I do store my guns standing in a corner resting on the butt and the top with the barrel into the corner . Wondering since this is a break barrel if that could be playing into this ??? I am going to try leaving them lay down on their side . But even at that if the barrel isn't supported and is left a bit in the air and only being held by the stock as it lays . ????

Oh Well

Yes! I have noticed the same thing. Not sure what it is that causes it do that but perhaps the different pellet causes the barrel to lead up differently due to more or less pellet bearing surface in the bore. Once several pellets are fired it fills the little microscopic pores of the bore and becomes fairly consistent if you stay with the same pellet. Then if you change pellets the barrel will conition itslef to the new pellet it seems. Once your pellet change no longer smooth out in accuracy the barrel need to be cleaned. Even a clean barrel will take many shots to condition the inner bore and land surfaces before it shoots consistently smooth.

This is only a possibility that I have heard before, so you kind of have to believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see, sounds like a possible good theory though.

Good luck

Yep, there is something going on w/different pellets and accuracy

In order to duplicate the same POA and POI with the same pellet, and after a period of -- say -- a week or so between shoots, I run a .17 cal. Bore Snake once through my airguns. Then I shoot 10 to 15 conditioning shots, before trying my luck on paper or clay targets from 10m to 80m! If I don't run a Bore Snake and condition the bore beforehand shots go all over the place.

Now, if I shoot daily, then tha procedure is not necessary.

However, if I switch pellets, then I go through the Bore Snake thingy/10-15 shots routine all over again, so as not to give myself the blues

Cheers,
Nikos
