Hi I just picked up a Diana 25 from a gunshow the other day and after giving it a quick lube and tune I'm getting and average of 450fps out of it with CR Premier pellets. Is that what I should be expecting or should it be higher in the mid 500's? It is the Great Britian model and a standard 25 not a 25D. Thanks in advance.

For a .22 that's pretty punchy...

My .22 M25 only does around 400. For a .177, that sounds a little weak.

 Skillet,

Glad you brought your trusty .22 up!

I too still have my  .22 Hy Score 801 that started this Forum, and darned if that old beat-up looking thing STILL smacks a Crosman W/C off a 20 yard steel plate with a loud POP! (.22 Hobbies really shoot flat from it too) I never chronied the rifle, but the origonal Leather seal and Mainspring are still doing the job!

Funny just how well made and durable those old Diana 25's can be! All they require is a good White Grease (like Tom Gaylord suggests in his #4 Book). It keeps them passing some lube forward to the piston seal and keeps them "smoking" a bit with each shot. Tough old airguns, I doubt I'd EVER sell that one!

Sure, I have my "fancy" rifles, but there's really somthing to be said about the relaxing way an old .22 Model-25  plinks! There's not much one has to do but cock, load, line the sights up, and fire to appreciate just how much fun informal airgunning can be!

Perhaps the Model-25  named in this string just needs such a  simple White Grease job to come back to life (reguardless of Caliber). All it takes is spreading some over the Mainspring, (thru the cocking arm slot) and within 15-20 shots, she'll pass the lube ahead and should bring the velocity up a little. Maybe even up to spec's?

Expect about 5 FPE

for a model 25 in .177
maybe 5.3 fpe with pellets it really likes.
Mine like R10 heavy the most.

Kind regards,

Joris

Diana 25 and 27 in cal. 22

September 27 2006, 1:20 AM

I have recently found two .22 caliber bbls for my Diana 25 and 27.

They came off a Winchester 425 and 427.

I just love them shooting light .22 pellets. The 27 is louder and more powerful, but the 25 is my favored. Swapping barrels is simple and takes less ntan 5 minutes (1 min. if you have done it several times!).

Both have Maccari tunes with black tar in the mainspring. I don't have a CHRONY here yet, but they shoot harder in .22 than in .177, yet the velocity is so low that if the light is right (on the side), it shines on the pellets and I can watch them prolling towards the target at 40 yards. They don't do much damage to empty paint cans @ 40 meters so are perfect for backyard plinking, particularly the 25 which is dead quiet. I can shoot it all day long, as it is so lightweight and easy to cock and load the biggie .22s!

Do I need to say that I got the Diana 25 when I was 9 in 1966? I also have a 25D, but that's a strictly 10m single-hole-capable model with diopter sight and globe foresight (with a clear acrylic insert).

Cheers,
Nikos
