Winchester, Hy-Score, Gecado (Geco), Beeman, Peerless, Daisy, etc. Does anyone here have the same bias that I have against Dianas with aliases? Call me a bigot if you like, but I just like the Huntress on my Dianas. I've sold off almost all of my non-Diana labeled Dianas, with the exception of a Daisy 230, a Hy-Score 801, and a Winchester 66. Interestingly, at the SHOT SHOW earlier this year, a fellow at the RWS booth told me that Winchester labeled Dianas are more valuable than Diana labeled Dianas. I don't care, I prefer to Diana Dianas.

I find airgun marketing strategies of the past (and present) rather amusing.

Diana Dianas are tops; I just love that lady's armpit too!

Cheers,
Nikos

Oops!

Chris,

Let me reassure you: I have two Winchesters (rimfires) and I love them equally. Until i started looking for Diana barrels in .22, I had little idea that Winchester had marketed various Dianas as "Winchesters"...

I like that :>) smile too.

Cheers and kind thanks for your help!

A GOOD thing!

 Chasm,

One very good thing about this perception of the added value of the Winchester Markings is that some people have taken extra care to preserve them. Many Winchester/Diana's are in far better condition than other variants!

Granted, some of the Winchester Contract guns did have top grade wood and accessorys ordered with them, and this is always nice!

Power-wise, I think that the Hy-Score guns lead the overstamped Dianas. Both of my Hy-Score's have very stout mainsprings and shoot HARD! Maybe I just got good ones tho???

I dunno, man...

While I concede the "goddess" is easily the coolest airgun logo ever, Diana's predilection for re-labeling is part-and-parcel of the lore of the marque to me.

In addition, in my observation some markings seem to have been made at a time of particularly high Diana build quality; perhaps aided by the specification requirements of the companies themselves. Especially every Hy-Score and Original labeled Diana I've ever seen is at least as beautifully finished as the "mother" label.

The Winchester guns are lovely, too, but I fully agree this label is often grossly over-valued in the US. A lot of powder-burners don't even realize that Winchester didn't actually make the airguns. At the last show I went to, a seller was asking over $300 for a doggy model 422 (Diana 22, a cheap kid's model). Sheesh.

Diana never made any bad guns back in the day, no matter what they called 'em! Ya can't tell me you'd turn down this richly-blued, gold-lettered babe just cuz she don't say "Diana" on her...

Mike,

"Ya can't tell me you'd turn down this richly-blued, gold-lettered babe just cuz she don't say "Diana" on her..."

Correct! How much are you asking?

I totally agree

Diana's armpit is PEERLESS, of WINCHESTER fame, rather ORIGINAL and certainly attaining HY-SCORE(s)

:^)
