Working my way through various German airgun masterpieces and just purchased a Diana Model 6M. Looks great externally but has no pressure. I assume from looking at the website that the piston seal/and or breech seal needs replacing. The gun is stamped " 11 1981" which I assume is the date of manufacture. I have a spring compressor which is fine for rifles but may not "fit" this pistol. Can anyone tell me if there is much spring preload on these guns, before I try and remove the end cap! Any advice on lube for these guns..will moly be OK?
Also any links to UK repairers of these guns please? Looks as if I can get the parts from Chambers in UK or JGAirguns in USA.

Thanks in advance.

Mike, I don't know what your level of mechanical aptitude is, but these pistols are not the easiest things to take apart--two pistons which must be correctly aligned with the cogs on the receiver sides, etc. You may prefer to find a shop that will do the complete repair. There are several good ones here in the US.

The piston seals are most likely completely perished. In the late 80's Diana started using a much longer-lived blue material for these.

I hear what you say!! I have now read several threads indicating that these double piston jobs are not for the diy amateur! I have now contacted a UK specialist and will await an answer. You seem to have a few USA specialists and I suppose I could strip off the stock and barrel assembly and post the cylinder.

I should have stuck to Walther and FWB!! Still, the 6M looks like a lovely pistol and well worth fixing.

Once you get the gun fixed, you will find it is very durable, very accurate, has a wonderful trigger, and is truly utterly recoil-free. A collectible classic that can still punch the ten-ring with the best of them.

They have a bit of history, too. The Diana model 6 was the first recoilless spring-piston air pistol ever made, coming on the market in 1959. The orginal gun had a wood grip/frame unit and a lovely tapered barrel, like my old model 5 in the pic below. The 6M is a 70's descendant with improved grip and the barrel from the Diana's top match pistol, the model 10.
