The D27 is sweet

November 14 2006, 8:57 AM

Mine has both bbls but I mostly shoot in in .22 configuration. It has the sweetest trigger brake, almost match-grade; it's like a glass cracking. Perfect air rifle for the type of shooting intended (35m max).

My D25D in .22 is good for up to 20-25 yards.

On the contrary the D35 in .177 goes out to 50m accurately, it's amazing.

So, I guess that the D27 falls squarely between the other two and is complementary to them. I just can't imagine myself breaking this complementarity.

I have two 10m-dedicated rifles, a D60 and a Walther LG 55M in Tyro.

Then for far away targets I reach for my two Feinwerkbaus, a 124 and a 127, .177 and .22 cal., respectively. There is no point shooting these FWBs at 10 or 50 meters. It's a waste. They excell at longer distances, like 100+. The 124 has a diopter rear sight and the 127 has a Leupold 3-9x33 EFR Ultralight with Premier Reticles Modified Mil-Dot reticle (ten dots in each direction). The top dot corresponds to 10 and 40m, while after that it is a dot for each meter (or two) all the way to 100m (last dot at the bottom). At 120m I hold a tad above the tenth dot.

So there you have it. Each air rifle has it's own specific range and none is better than the D27 @ 35m at that weight and handling ease (for a .22 cal.).

Enjoy,
Nikos

27's a keeper for sure

November 14 2006, 11:16 AM

Although I recently got rid of my '80 27, I think I found a suitable replacement. See my other post regarding my Diana 28.

The same guy I got the 28 from had two nice 27s on his table for the same price. I spotted them first, and was considering getting another, since I sort of regret selling my 27. Then I spotted the 28, and grabbed it instead. One of my buddies picked up a 27 though, so I know where to go to shoot one.

I think we're all Bozos on this bus.
