I would like to know if anyone has used the vorteck v-rod spring assy. kit that is offered by precision air guns and supplies out of Mich.????? I want to rebuild my new .20 cal mod. 48 and get it shooting smooth and accurate...Air gun show this weekend in Va. and lots of sales and such out there and just need some good advice for my rebuild project...This gun was purchased in june 06 and I have about 500 rounds through it and its not all to accurate yet...only shooting benj. pellets due to the fact have not ordered others...It was on of those 219.00 specials at midsouth shooting supply co.....Sometimes I think you get what you pay for....Have noticed other sites selling the 48 in .20 cal. for 100-140$ more?????Would like any good advice I can get on this project...Thanks .......Mike
Mike nothing wrong with your 48 the Benjamin pellets are probably just a poor choice in your rifle. I bought a .20 in the same sell and it is a great rifle. Very accurate from day one. Mine shoots Beeman Crow Magnums, Beeman FTS, and I had some Crosman Premiers left that shoot very well. I have and have had most of the top end springers and actually enjoy the model 48 in .20 over most of them. My gun came with a beautiful stock and was smooth out of the box. I have owned several model 48's in .22 and a .177 and they have all been accurate but like any magnum springer it takes some time to learn to shot them well. An expensive kit will not help as much as the right pellet and some practice with your new gun.
Hope this helps you.
Mopar
Mopar thanks for the advice...kinda knew that but was just getting impatient with it with these 14.3 benjis.....have a 34 in .177 and put a macari spring kit in it after 3 tins and it is a tack driver at 10 and can drop black birds out to 60yds with no problem....just getting itchy for accuracy....Mike
Mopar is correct. I bought a 48 in 20 cal also for 219.00 from Midsouth. I should have bought a half a dozen at that price. I did the same thing you did. The only pellets I could find right away were the Ben Sheridens. From what I have heard about the only gun they will shoot in accurately is the Nen Sheridens themselves. You don't have to do a thing to your gun. The best pellet I have found to shoot is the Beeman Field Target Specials. For accuracy and range I like a round nose pellet. Anyway, get yourself some FTS's and I'm sure you'll find your gun is quite accurate, powerful, and was a heck of a buy.
