I have a Canadian Diana 24 T05 (.22 cal) and its muzzle velocity is lower than 400 fps with 14.3 gr pellets. I bought it 8 months ago and it has less than 20 shots thru.

Someone tell me that the mainspring for Canadian Diana 24 is particularly weak. Does anyone have ideas on upgrading the Diana 24 T05 to a higher muzzle energy ?

Is there a aftermarket spring kits that can bring more power to Diana 24 T05 ?

Hi mate.
I wouldn't try to upgrade yr Diana. It'll make it horrible to shoot and probably will give erratic accuracy. They're just not made for more power.

 Papaburger,

The .22 Model 24 like the .22 Model 25, is a moderate velocity .22. Muzzle velocitys on tuned specimens rarelly exceed 500fps.

I think you need to fire about 600-800 shots thru your new rifle as it's NOT broken in yet! Power goes up somewhat as they break in. 600 to 1000 shots is not unreasonable for a break-in. Your rifle is factory tight and needs to be shot!

I don't know where you live, but in some areas it's illegal to bring the power up too much...

You could look at Jim Maccari's site and see if he has a spring near the dimensions you need.

I have no search function here but if you  go back through the pages you will see many headings about the rifle. You can also GOOGLE Diana 42 modds, you might find some clues that others have used on their guns.

Still be VERY carefull of obeying local laws!

 Good luck,

 ZVP

Well actually the Canadian Diana 24 air rifles come with a chopped main spring. I have both the T05 .177 and .22 cal D24. My .177 D24 was doing 485fps with 7.9gr pellets with the canadian spring. I ordered a full power spring from North Silva and my .177 D24 now does 575fps with a 7.9gr pellet and 640fps with an RWS hobby pellet. My .22 D24 also had the canadian spring and was only doing about 365fps with 14.3gr pellets. I ordered a full power spring for that too and it now does 506fps with a 14.3gr pellet. So in other words yes you can up the power on a D24.

I was lucky...

and got both a .22 and .177 with the factory full power springs, 35 coils IIRC. I've shot a few examples with the detuned spring in both calibers and I personally feel that the rifle shoots better with the full power spring. I'm getting similar velocity as RM422 with both calibers.

Have you found a new spring yet Papaburger?

I seem to remember reading...

That people were using springs designed for the R-7 in the M24s. The R-7 has it's own cult following and there are plenty of aftermarket mainsprings avail.

I would think that such a spring would bring your weapon back up to snuff, provided that the original was chopped.

The full power factory 24 spring...

fits the guide very nicely for a twang free, very smooth and consistent shot cycle. My .22 24 has been shooting 468fps with 15.9gr ammo for as long as I've had it, my .177 shoots 7.9gr ammo at 585fps, both are sweet accurate shooters.
