Bushnell

November 23 2006, 7:58 PM

My son is using a Bushnell Banner 6x18x50 on his Diana 350 with no problems. I am using the Elite 3200 5x15x50 with similar results. The best place to check for a scope's ability to handle recoil is:

http://www.straightshooters.com/navagationpages/ssproductsandfeatures.html

They will recommend an appropriate scope for your rifle. Look under heavy recoil section.

Whatever you decide, make sure you get a scope that has AO and will focus down to 10yds or less!!!

Good luck!

Just Listen

November 24 2006, 4:41 AM

I have given this advice a couple of times and have never had anyone complain, on the cotrary they loved it.

Scope:
Get a Leapers 4-16X50 sidewheel or a hawke 4-16x50 or higher mag if you want, i have found the 16 mag to be enough. The BSA is not that great. the lenses is not nearly as clear as the above.I had a BSA Contender 6-24 and returned it for a Hawke 4-16 Nite Eye and have never made a better decision.

Mounts:
I have no experience with Leaper mounts so I cant comment. To me the Best mounts is Sportsmatch from the UK (aka Beeman Mounts) they are worth every penny. The best one for the Diana's is the beeman 5039 ( aka Sportsmatch AOP55) This will give you very high clearence and is adjustable up an doown and sideways. This is important since the Diana's have barrel droop. you can get a Dampa mount but it will ussually not take a front focusing scope of 50mm or bigger and you have to let it skimmed to compensate for the barrel droop(the barrel is pointing slightly downwards)

Pellets:
For .177 there is no better pellet than the Bisley Magnum aka Beeman Kodiak match aka Heandler and Natterman baracuda Match10.5gr pellet. I have tried every configuration of pellet and nothing beats it. Also remember to get the MATCH very important if you want to shoot long range 50 + yards. Close range you will not find a difference between the normal and Match versions.

For .22 I dont know but the Beeman Field target trophy seems o be tops.

Tuning:
I installed a Maccari GRT kit and an apex seal on my Diana 54 .177.
It shoots at 15,5fpe with heavy pellets and is more than enough.

From my 54 I have shot half inch 50 meter (55yard0 groups, 5shot. and 60 meter(66yards) 30mm 10shot groups.

Awesome kit, very easy to install and totally wort it. I live in South Africa and the kit reached me in 2 weeks by normal shipped post ($8).AWESOME service.

Now stop thinking and waisting time. bite the bullet and get the above mentioned. Let me know if you are dissapointed in the kit mentioned above, i will buy it from you.

happy & safe shooting

email me if you have any queries
