I'm fairly new to airguns and have ordered a new RWS 34 .177. My question is: Is there a pellet of choice for the initial break in period for my gun when it arrives?
These are the 3 tins that I have now but two dont have the weight listed.
Crosman Premier Hollow Points gr?
Crosman Pointed Premium Grade gr?
Crosman Copperhead Wadcutters 7.9gr

All the pellets...

you have are roughly the same weight(7.9gr). Personally I don't/won't use Crosman pellets because of inconsistency problems they have. If you don't mind going through each tin and sorting out the pee wee's you'll be fine!LOL! Try something like H&N FTT's or JSB Exacts. I use the Exacts in both .177 and .22 and after going through quite a few sleeves of each caliber I've yet to find a bad pellet. I have a .22 34 and it stacks JSB Exacts 5.52mm. HTH,

.177 pellets

Hi, John,

Like Mulby, I don't use Crosman pellets, simply because none of my guns seem to like them. I've also had less than great results with anything pointed. I also like JSB Exacts, but my results have been mixed. My CFX does fine, my 350 .22 doesn't. However, RWS Superdomes are good in both guns. Best pellet in my RWS is the JSB Predator, followed closely by the Superdome. Crow Magnums would probably be #3. You might try a few heavier pellets when you first get your gun. Lots of guys feel this helps settle everything in and clear up any deiseling quicker. Couple of other pellets worth trying would be Beeman FTS's and Kodiaks. Not sure about the heavier pellets, lots of people feel that they beat up springs. But hey, springs are cheap, and if they shoot well, maybe it's worth it. I've found my .177 does best with 8-8.5 gr. pellets in all categories, so I've had no use for the heavies.

Another thing to bear in mind, Diana tends to ship guns pretty dry. At least, that's what I've read, and my 350 certainly proved it. Very smooth initially, then started torqueing like crazy. I finally opened it up, it was practically bone dry. A little polishing and lube, and it not only smoothed out, it also picked up 20 fps. Hope this has been some help, and enjoy the new gun!

Have 34

I have a 34 and the only pointed it likes is the RWS Super Point. I agreed with what has been written above this.. even about the Crosman pellets, they are not consistant. The Beeman Kodiak are fine also but being a bit heavier they tend to shoot a bit lower. FN
