Hi, This is a question for you model 34 in .177 cal. owners. What pellet does your rifle most like? Mine is fond of RWS Meisterkugen wadcutters for paper. What's good for hunting?

RWS

March 19 2007, 9:17 AM

Hi I have RWS 34's in .177 and .22
Have tried all different brands ,styles and weights . What seems to work best is as you say the ( RWS mesterkrugen ( spelling ? ) for punching paper and for hunting etc the RWS Super H Point or the Super Point.

Not sure what the weights are on those without going down and looking .

I have tried CrossMan /Daisey / Gamo /Beeman and at that point gave up because I was getting satisfactory results with the RWS

I don't have a chronograph so I have no idea what the Feet Per Second is , I have shoot into Soft Pine wood and and get about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch penetration in .177 in hard wood oak /cheery /walnut etc I get about 1/4 in to 3/8 these are from the point or nose of the pellet .( depends on style.

Take care have fun shoot safe .... JerryL

The correct answer is, as most will tell you, the one your gun shoots most accurately at the range you will be shoting, as "some" springers are pellet sensitive in terms of accuracy. That said, I have found the Crosman Premier Lights to be one of the best (accurate) in most of my air rifles. Other accurate "hunting" options could be the JSB Predaor or the RWS Superdome, but you will need to experiment to find the "real" best pellet for your rifle.

Be careful on pellet weights. Most experienced air rifle gurus say that pellets much over 8 grains can lead to early spring fatigue, but if you can replace the spring yourself, that may not be of much concern to you. Heavier pellets sometime provide improved performance, but the price you pay could be a broken or fatigued spring.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I suspect that most diana owners have, like me a large variety of on hand pellets before you find what's best in your rifle.
