I have an old Mod. 5 I've enjoyed for years that now need new piston washers or seals or something inside. It is spitting out tiny pieces of leather. My Problem: I can't get the end cap off. I soaked it in penatrating for 3 days. No luck. Appreciate any help I can get.

Unscrew the smalla screw on the cap. Remove the stock. Use glows or tools to unscrew the cap counter-clockwise. There are no secret moves to unscrew it but then threads might be corroded and stuck.

Thanks. That cap has been on that airgun for 37 years. I don't think it wants to part company. Gloves and strap wrench didn't do it. 6 days of soaking in 2 different penetrating oils didn't do it either. My next step is to freeze the whole thing and then use a heat gun on the cap. Hope it works.
