Hi guys,
I've noticed a bit of a performance reduction in my Diana 350, I do alot of shooting with it. From reading all over the internet, it's been suggested that perhaps I should look into changing the breach seal of the gun. How easy or difficult is this to do? Are there any standard instructions that I can follow to do this on my own. I know that ideally this should be done by a gunsmith, however, the one that we have here in Trinidad, I don't want to leave my gun with, since I plain ole don't trust the guy.
There is absolutley NOTHING to replacing one of these; even piston seals on this gun are easy with small quantity of mech. aptitude.
First, are you getting breech blow-by? A little is 'normal', but 'a lot' indicates a seal issue.
If the face of the seal looks good, just pop it out with a small screwdiver and put something (paper , dental floss) behind it to shim it up a bit. If the seal looks 'shot' (cuts, abrasions), order a new one and pop it in.
Don't lose the factory shims (silver washers) whilst working; there may be one or more, this is a variable item.
Lay a little piece of tissue paper across the joint where the breach meets the receiver and fire a pellet. If your breach seal is leaking, it will blow the paper off.
Have fun,
