Hello all.
Im a proud Diana 54 owner. but:
Since in my contry, laws of airgun ownership are very tough, Im ordered to store my rifle locked and secured. The only place I can do so safetly is within a wooden box locked in my attic. It is subjected to ambient humidity, temperatures and so.
Should I lube the external metal / wood surfaces, or it is undesrable?
Also, do long periods of humidity and heat can harm the o-rings / breech seal / main pressure cylinder seal?

Thanks

Hello

I would lightly lube the outside metal with a light oil before and run a cleaning patch with a light ol down the barrel putting it away if I was not going to use it for a long time. If you plan to store it for a long period you may want to open the box and and wipe it down to check for any rust. I don't think the air temp and humidity will affect the seals as they are modern synthetics. The wood stock should be ok from the factory applied stain/sealer. I also have a Diana 54 and it is a great rifle. Good luck.

Respectfully

Nathan

I would strongly advise you to stay away from the attic!

Store it at room temperature in a gun case.
This would be good conditions for the stock on the gun.
The attic is too unpredictable and would be horrible for the stock on the airgun - always really hot in the summer and extremely cold in the winter.

Congratulations on your new 54! I recently did a tune on mine and it shoots like a dream. If you have the money, you can invest in a hard/sealed "Pelican" case with the built in pressure valve. I have one and when closed, it keeps everything out and it can also be locked.
