Hello. What scope would you folks recommend for a model 52?I have owned this rifle for a few years, shooting open sights, factory everything, just once in a while. The bug is biting, scoping is mandatory, and a tuning will probably be in order.I don't want to overscope, but understand what this rifle requires regarding recoil resistance.Too many r words.Thankyou all, tomas
Hi Tom, I own a Model 52 also and am thinking about putting a scope on it, check out Pyramyd air, I found a article there about scopes made by Leapers, though they are not that much money it sounds like they are tested and can stand up on a gun like the 52. Now I have never owned a Leapers scope yet and all I can say is that it is something to look into and read the article there about them. I know straightshooters.com rates the 52 as having heavy recoil which we know it does, they do not even recommend the Bushnell Trophy, only the Bushnell Elite scopes and or Leupold or Weaver. Very expensive scopes I must say. If I use a Leapers on mine I will for shure let everyone know if it stood up to the 52 or not. Hope this helps some, I am shure others might have more expirience with some scopes they have tried and can also lend some advice.
A Simmons Pro Air 4X12X40 on my M54 now for 3 years and have not had a problem. I have used Leapers scopes on other heavy recoilers (Gamo 1250, RWS 350) and have not had one fail. I think Leapers are a good value for the dollar. Just my experience, yours may differ.
