Ok, My new 460. is keeping the Leapers scope on with no problem. I have fired over 500 pellets and just minor adjustment. The gun really does not have much of a kick. However, the underlever cocking arm which seemed to be not very tight when I got it out of the box. now slips out of the locking mechanism when fired. How do I tighten this? I mean I could just put a piece of duct tape to give it a little more grip but it seems like their should be a easier way. Thank,
Dave

Hi Dave,

Mine is not loose so I didn't try this, but if you sit the gun on the butt end and look down into the little hole at the end of the short cocking lever retaining tube below the barrel you will see a small screw. (I had to use a light to see it) This screw retains the steel ball that fits into the end of the cocking lever. Notice the end of your cocking lever. Mine has a hole in it and it fits over the steel ball when it's locked into place under the barrel. The beveled edges of the end of the cocking lever allow it to slip over the ball and the tension against the ball from the front end is what controls the tightness of the fit against the end of the cocking lever.

Since your lever won't stay latched, I'm betting that the spring behind the steel ball is either broken or just needs some more tension.

I would first just try tightening the screw to make it push harder against the spring(if there is one there) or against the ball to make it come further toward the rear(butt) of the gun.

This should make the lever fit tighter against the ball and hold it in place better.

If you have any problems doing this and if it will help, I'll try to
take some pics to show you what I'm talking about.

Hope this helps, specially if mine does the same thing some day.

Charlie

I'm sure you already know this, but I forgot to say that if you first try tightening the screw, better do it a tiny bit at a time so nothing breaks.

You keep saying the gun does not have much of a kick.
You probably know this but just in case..
Though you may not feel it kick as much, I think the gun itself is built in such a way that it protects the shooter from feeling too much recoil. I think the gun is still getting a small pounding every time it fires, so if I owned a 460, I would still check all the screws periodically (it's recommended every 100-200 shots or after every shooting session) just like in any other springer. This is for all springers even medium powered springers so I don't think the 460 should be an exception. My guess is that screw came loose from because of the 500 shots you have on it already. I would check all of them.

Harry, as I mentioned on a previous post, I think the 460. does kick, but with a lot of "finesse" if you get my point. I think the delivery of the pellet out of the gun and on target is so swift that the shooter does not feel it. I have checked all my screws and they did NOT loosen like on the 34. In fact they were all tight when I looked into why the underlever was coming loose. I took the stock off and did a minor lube on the gun and re tightened the screws with loctight and tightened up the ball joint for the underlever cocker.
