I still haven't mounted a scope on my new 460 Magnum - been having
fun shooting with the factory sights and getting satisfying results.
I've got a Leapers 3-9x32 I could mount on it but been thinking maybe
I should grab some more magnification, still get the mil-dots/AO yet
not much more weight.
I've owned all the Bushys from Sportman to 4200 Elites and used them
on various power level springers. Had a 5-15 Legend for a short time
on a 20ish FPE magnum springer but didn't have it long enough or shot
tested enough to see how it'd hold up.
I know Straightshooters catagorizes the Legend as a medium recoil
rated springer scope - no 'dis' to them but I don't consider them
the final word/authority on the matter/subject. I do like to read/hear
from various airgunners that have actually used the scope for thousands
of shots on a full magnum (20+ FPE) springer/rammer. That can make more
of an impact/impression on me.
I realise any scope can break and realise many of the variables at scope
end and gun end. No doubt a loose/damaged sealed detonating dieselling
full magnum springer being shot with loose fly-weight or heavy-weight
pellets can be very rough on a scope - even a super scope! LOL
So IYO is the Legend to weak for a well mannered yet quite quick, athletic
460 Magnum .22 (23ish FPE)? Have you used one on a full magnum springer
for over 1000 shots?
I don't own the legend but have a Trophy on my RWS 52 and it has lasted 1,000 rounds so far. I have seen that Straight Shooters lists the Trophy also as a medium recoil scope, however I think it depends on alot of factors. My guess is just how much recoil each individual gun has etc. I can't say for the legend scope but have heard others claim it has held up okay on magnum springers, perhaps someone else might also post about their expirience with these scopes and your particular gun.
Awhile back I mounted a Banner on a Webley Xocet .177..
November 16 2007, 8:10 AM
and within 20 or so shots it broke. Figured it'd hold up as I had used
Banners on a Webley Longbow and a R9 (actually a Marksman 70). Sent
the scope to Bushnell and after several weeks I finally called them.
The fellow I talked to said a new scope will be shipped to me soon.
When the new scope arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find a Trophy
in the package!
