I have pretty much decided to get the Panther 34. in 22.cal. The demo deals at Umarex are great deals at about cost. The only thing that bothers me, is the fact that a demo, probably means some knuckle head behind the counter of a Bass Pro Shop either dry fired a rifle or let some customer dry fire a demo. What do you guys think? Is it worth the gamble? Could always get a tune later anyway? Right?

pull the trigger

My 48 is a beaut ! Shoots great and is very accurate . Other then that lil R on the side ,I'd have never known it was a demo.

Do they have Panthers left ? Glenn said they were out when I called a week and a half ago . Race ya to the phone LOL . I'd really be tempted by a 40 in a Panther syn stock ...

nice!

Maybe it's a factory-tuned Panther with less vibrations, smoother springer? I really like the synthetic stock on it and the weight. I hear the current Panther is very well balanced. Do we have an ETA for the Panther Pro? Does it come in .50cal? Just kidding!

Weird

When I bought the 48 as a Demo from UMAREX it did not come with any marking's but the facory one's. I them bought the 40 which is noting but a glorified 34 and it was stamped with an "R" in the wood stock on both ends and an "R" in the metal side of the receiver.

Some are marked R as refurbished is my best guess.

and remember "it's 30% the gun and 70% the shooter"

forget it..

The classic and Professional series look pretty cheap. Almost like Chinese guns. They better cost considerably less. No checkering, no butt cheeck, and no iron sights. They are even using different wood stock and shape. The 350 Classic and Pro have a much smaller frame and the butt stock is even angled differently so as to make it look like there is no barrel droop. The only thing I like is the large pronounced muzzle break, or barrel weight I should say. That looks cool! I 'd like it better of they put the silencer they make on the barrels. What's with the matte metal? No more blueing?

It is obvious they are trying to make them more affordable in order to sell more of them. German made Dianas for the masses! Not a bad marketing scheme I guess. Just like the 34 and its sister the 36 which had a better stock. I bet another reason they are doing this is to compete with the Chinese clones that have a similar, more plain/classic look. I guess only the break-barrels are getting this look.

forget it ?...no

I think they don't look *too* bad . I agree the stocks are quite plain - Too plain . Why are the specs for the .22 cals so much lower ? Is the power plant being maximized for the .177 ? The compact versions are what intrest me most they seem well proportioned
...and of course the 52 Luxus *HolyMoly* !
Still listing it in .25  , we'll see how many escape Dianas clutches.

I dialed the phone to talk to Glenn twice this a.m. - but decided Jim Maccarri was a better choice and ordered a GRT kit and seals . Glad I held off -after seeing the 52 Luxus ,I'm starting a new piggy bank today .

yep..

the plain stocks turned me off big time. I don't mind the Panther Pro though. Looks the best but they should really put the muzzle break on (they call it silencer), instead of the "barrel weight" as they call it. I don't understand why they 're putting that extra weight on, to balance the gun more? That would add more weight to the front. I can see with the carbine that has the shorter barrel, but not the other models.

BTW, there are a few models they don't export to the US, like the 52 Luxury one (Luxus) and especially not .25 They really should. I wonder if Umarex can custom order them for people. They should be able to. I don't see why not.

The model 28 stock in the pdf catalog

December 14 2007, 1:48 PM

really looked nice . Seems as though at least it gets to wear nicer clothing - should be at least an option for the others .
Umarex & Special orders ...I wonder also ???

Is that honkin muzzle weight available anywhere ? will it fit a 48? I've removed the open sights from mine and would love to remove the plastic ramp - but it has a stepped barrel under it and makes for less than eye appealing .

Don't shoot the horse yet

December 14 2007, 4:47 PM

Harry, Wait untill you shoot the gun, before you make any judgements. I thougth the barrel shroud helps tame down the kick and vibration. That is what SS say's anyway. I bet the Pro is a great gun! I can't wait to see it. I really like the Panther. I almost bought that rifle when I got my 34. It was a tough decision. The Panther was so nice, that is why I am going to get the Pro.
