I have an RWS 6G .177 pistol I purchased new in the early 1990s. It worked well and was very quiet. After moving to Wichita from So Cal I decided to try it out again. This time some seal pieces came through the barrel. After looking around it would seem that Umarex won't sell parts to dealers so I sent it into Umarex for repair. It came back Okay and seemed to work Okay but now shoots high. At 15 yards or so I can't adjust it down low enough.
I have tried calling umarex who said to send it back and would look at it again. Guess they don't test fire the guns after repair. I posted on the yellow forum. Some ideas were:
Use an RWS 34 rifle front sight.
Try 10 meter airgun targets.
Modify or make a new front sight insert.
Hi Bill, something must have happened when they worked on it as they changed something if it was shooting okay before hand, it might be shooting harder than it originally did, thus the front sight is like it is too low now, what I am getting at is maybe they put a new mainspring in it and the velocity is high and or depending on the lubricants they use which I have no idea what they use at Umarex a bit of dieseling even though it is not cracking it might be causing the velocity to go way up now it has been rebuilt. Maybe if you fire a few hundred rounds it will settle back down and come back down, I think the 6g had the removable front inserts if I remember, if it were to low you could modify a insert but too high would mean you would need the front sight higher yet. I can't think of anything else off hand right now. Some other might have some ideas as well about it here for you.
