Just received an e-mail from Glenn Seiter at Umarex USA.He informs me that he has ordered Diana 48's,52's and 52 luxus in .25 caliber, as well as .177 model 28's.He didn't say if they would be available from dealers or from Umarex alone, but this is certainly good news for those of us interested in these guns.

He did not mention

when these would be arriving. We will need to keep our eyes open.I suggest as a next step that everyone with a genuine interest in purchasing any of the aforementioned guns to e-mail your favorite dealer and let them know that Umarex is ordering these and request they make them available to their customers. This way, there is a possibility of getting reasonable pricing.

my guess

December 22 2007, 10:38 AM

is if the retailers do eventually get their hands on some .25's, they will advertise them as "Limited time only" or 'limited stock' or "1-time only" and will charge a premium for them. We 'll see what happens. I 'm definitely getting one. I just don't know which one I want yet. If Umarex orders the regular 52 .25 I might go for that. I like the stock better on the 52 vs. 48. If the price is reasonable on the 52 Luxus .25 then I 'm definitely buying that.

We just need to let Umarex know that we are genuinely interested. The only way to do that is for everyone seriously interested to send them an e-mail and ask when they are getting them in. I still think I can strike a deal on a groupbuy though. Let him get them in first and see if he 'll distribute them to resellers. If not, and Umarex can't move them fast, then I 'm sure we 'll get a deal on a groupbuy.

This ticks me off (not really)

December 22 2007, 11:02 AM

I emailed DIANA a couple of months ago and asked if they were going to make any .25 caliber side lever or under-lever guns in the near future with actually the 460 in my mind. The response I received (after a week or so) was that they were NOT going to make ANY .25 caliber guns except possibly a break barrel, Hammerli?, in the foreseeable future so I advertised for a used 52, which I found and have yet to receive, at a premium price! I knew all it would take is for me to do what I did and the situation would change in an instant. Of course, had I waited there would not be any .25s brought in. So, I guess you .25 fans owe me a big thank you. (I'd put one of those smiley faces here if I knew how, but I don't so I won't)

I'm Sorry...

December 29 2007, 10:19 PM

Greetings all,

I saw the 52 in .25 cal and just could not resist. I bought a "Refurb" 52 in .22 from Glenn in October 2007. It has the Scarlet "R" on it, but is hard hitting and accurate. Mounted a RWS 450 3x9 scope on it and the 2nd and 3rd shots each dropped a tree squirrel. I also have a 54 in .22 and that is my favorite gun, but the 52 in .22 is second. Now I will have to see where the 52 in .25 fits. Not sure what scope I will put on it. Sorry I had to get this but I HAD TO...

Model 28 can't wait

December 30 2007, 4:43 AM

I will be e-mailing Glen to confirm interest in the 28, the Panther Pro, and the 240.
I think anyone that wants to invest in ANY RWS should do so as soon as possible. The Dollar is shrinking fast compared to the Mark.

Bill..

I 'm confused. Did you buy a 52 .25cal? You talked about shooting and hunting with the 52 .22. Do you actually have the 52 .25 or do you plan on getting one?

I bought it, funds pending, USPS MO in Mail on Monday

December 30 2007, 4:56 PM

This will be the 52 in .25. This will go with the 52 in .22 with the "R". 1st airgun I shot was a 48 in .177 2 years ago. It was suggested that I get .22 for the "slam" an the ease in loading the pellets. SO, I ordered the 54 in .22. Best gun I have that I have shot. Bought a HW90 about 13 months ago in .25. It has the gas ram system, so no spring to worry about. BUT I have not rigged it up or even shot it. Got Leupold EFR for the 90 and the DAMPA mount but haven't put all of this together. This spring I will get them all ready for the ground squirrels next door. Probably will buy an Idaho license to shoot ground squirrels. Its only about 20 minutes to some good hunting grounds.

Way to go

December 30 2007, 6:40 PM

Bill!! A 52 in both .22 & .25, a 54. 22 and a HW90 .25! Nice collection.

BTW, up here in NY squirrel season is from Sept1 to Feb29. Actually that's the entire small game season with rabbit, crow, etc. starting Oct.1. We get about 4mos. You guys have a Spring hunting season where you live? You must live in the South. I hear you even have a big game season in the Spring. Here they only allow us to fish in the Spring & Summer

Spokane...WA...Ground Squirrels

December 31 2007, 8:28 AM

Harry,

I grew up in the Buffalo, NY area. Most of my family still lives there. Once I got out of the USN in 1979, I move to Gillette, WY for 12 years. Shot some powder Burners and got a mule deer one year. Moved to Spokane, WA in 1990 and did not hunt. I live on 15 acres of woods and we have about 12-15 deer that hang out. Used to be some tree squirrels till I got my Model 54 in .22. Now there are few and if I see them, I hunt them down. Guess this is just because they chewed thru my wiring harness in my 90 Toyota 4x4. Had to splice 19 wires to get it running again. I HATE TREE SQUIRRELS. My neighbor has 60 acres and horses in the pasture. The ground squirrels build mounds around their hole and make a mess of the pasture as well as providing a bone breaking hole. The neighbors were trying to kill them off with .22 and smoke bombs. Costly and not very good job. The new generation was more that they had killed. So it was a positive population growth. BUT then a buddy from work brought up his RWS/Diana 48 in .177 and a Gammo in .177. We shot about 40 that day and I placed an order for my .22 in Model 54 that day. Got it and the summer of 06 we shot about 140. This past year I only got about 40. But I did get 5 tree squirrels and 3 chipmunks.

We have seen Deer, quail, turkeys, moose, a badger, porkey pines, a bobcat, and some racoons. And the much deaded Tree Squirrels...

The ground squirrels come out of the ground the end of April and go in the beginning of August. Its like they "set" the hunting season...

nice!

15 acres of hunting pleasure! You have everything a hunter or airgunner could wish for. Lots of small game! Tree & ground squirrels, racoon, porcupine, bobcats, what more can you ask for? And big game to boot! A hunter's heaven!

140 squirrels is a major feat. Must have been a lot of fun. Now I know what I 'm missing. I need to look for a multi-acre lot up north with good hunting all year round.

Glenn bought more .25's????

December 31 2007, 11:55 AM

Wow, I bought a RWS 52 in .25 from Glenn back in August 07, when their website said these were DISCONTINUED OVERSTOCKS, 7 left the site said but Glenn was down to 5.

While I loved it and the feel of its 17ft lbs, I didn't shoot it much and sold it to pay for some 17M2's. The .25 is a lot more expensive than the .177 or .22 models.

Its a bit expensive and I guess the scarcity value is going down...
