My wife gave me a RWS 52, .177 for Christmas. I've been talking about getting a good pellet rifle for months to shoot starlings, barnyard varmints, etc., so she surprised me. This is the first non-Wally World, decent air rifle I've ever owned, beyond the cheap BB gun variety I use to separate my and our neighbor's bulls on occasion.
I'll need LOTS of guidance and, after visiting several forums, was most impressed with this one. So I joined up. Please provide me a thread that deals with how to "break in" a new air rifle. Looking forward to learning a great deal from you folks...
is the way to "break it in".I would suggest Crosman heavy premier pellets (10.5 gr.) or Beeman kodiak pellets. These will be fine performers in your 52 which is a powerful gun in .177.Expect to shoot between 100 and 500 (approximately) rounds to get the gun to settle in.Lubing and tuning can wait until after break in, and some just shoot the gun the way it is without ever tuning. However, lubing and tuning will bring out the guns best shooting behavior as far as consistency and smoothness and I recommend it highly.Ed K. is the tune guy for RWS/Diana airguns and his e-mail addy can be found over on the yellow forum(www.yellowforum.com).You have a wonderful gun!Enjoy.
