I have just purchased my last NEW RWS! I purchased a new 850 mag. The dollar is going to be worth nothing against the Euro in the coming year. These guns will not be getting any cheaper for sure, unless the Germans start a plant in Japan or Mexico. If you are serious about getting Diana's start buying them NOW! I'm bailing out of new Diana's and will only buy used or demos's. The market on air guns is changing very quickly. I saw a new Gamo the other day that was very nice. The owner told me it shot great. The new Sheridan Bluestreak is comparable to the RWS 460.. Their should not be a price difference of OVER $200.00! This is not because the gun is twice the gun. It is because the dollar is not worth a crap. Tom Gaylord swears by the TX200 as one of the finest shooting guns made. One of his top ten. He then shoots a Chinese Bam 40, an exact replica made in China and say's it shoots even better. $285.00 VS $559.00. A WHOOPING $274.00. PLEASE TELL MY ABOUT THE DOLLAR!

The Chinese and the Saudi's own America's shameful debt. Instead of e-mailing Umarax for a price decrease, when should be voting with sense the next election! Absolutely disgraceful!

So should I vote for

December 31 2007, 9:41 AM

an oil barron or a gun grabber ?

Gratz on the 850 Dave !  I'll be looking forward to a test and evaluation of it from you . Seems like it is a decent powerful repeater ...even if it is "plastic"   Bet it lasts as long or longer than most .

Last gun

December 31 2007, 11:37 AM

Thanks guys, Yea, Harry, you are right. I did not think of it that way. Last gun of the year. I now have a RWS in each catagory. A 460. 22, a 177. in 34 and now a Gas in 177. The 850 seems more like a plinker than a hunter, so I got it in 177. I am seriously thinking about experimenting with some Chinese guns and other in the coming year. I would love to learn how to do work on my own guns, but am not very good at that type of work, and will be hunting for used Diana's and Demos. Sounds like a couple of guys really received some good deals on the demo's from Umarex and the guy that got the 25. did really well.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY RWS BUDDIES AND THEIR FAMILIES! LOOKING FORWARD TO ANOTHER YEAR OF RWS GUN TALK WITH ALL OF YOU! HERE'S TO A NEW YEAR AND MAY THIS BE THE YEAR YOU ALL GET THAT 25. CAL. RWS!!

GOOD SHOOTING
DAVE @VABCH

Where did you purchase your 850 from?
Planning the typical mods - a B&A adapter and heavier hammer spring?

Happy New Year

December 31 2007, 12:21 PM

Dave and everyone else too!

oh and Dave, this is a Diana forum so please discuss your Hammerli 850 at the appropriate forums!

No seriously, I think you 'll get a lot more out of a dedicated 850 forum like this one:
http://www.network54.com/Index/84463
Nothing but 850 owners! (a lot of modifying going on there)

But we 'd love to hear your feedback once you 've gone through a few hundred rounds with your new baby I 'll be getting one next year too. I need a plinker that's easy to handle and can shoot all day without getting tired.

Sorry Dave, but

December 31 2007, 1:06 PM

the Sheridan Blue streak is absolutely not the equivalent of the Diana 460,nor is it the equal of any Diana/RWS springgun currently imported into the United states. For starters it hasn't been available to the public long enough for the shooters and tuners to evaluate.Second, no airgun made in China can equal the engineering and manufacturing quality of airguns made in Germany or Great britain at this time, and most likely not for another decade or more.Your contention that Chinese airguns are as good as German is wishful thinking. You are correct in stating that the dollar is weak, and that prices are going to go up,and that now is the time to buy German airguns. There is a difference between evaluation, endorsement and promotion,a line that is sometimes hard to distinguish, so please consider the source before you entertain what they say as gospel truth. If you are confident in your opinions, may I invite you to post them over at the yellow forum(www.yellowforum.com),which is a huge, general airgun forum I'm sure you are familiar with. There are many very experienced airgunners that regularly visit that website and would be most eager to share their knowlege and experience with the airgunning public.BTW-I have been shooting airguns for over 35 years.

Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.

December 31 2007, 2:10 PM

First of all, you may want to visit the many post I have done on this forum. You may also review the post to find out that I am a dedicated RWS fan and proud owner, even if I do not have all the experience that you posses. Secondly, I did not say ever say that the Sheridan is the equal to a RWS because I have not seen one or tested one. However, How is it that you CAN make that distinction? Third, since when is this forum become become so bias and narrow minded that anyone mentioning a comparison to another gun, asked to go to another forum? And Please, do not throw the experience thing my way. I know a lot of people with experience, and they still use typewriters. As Ben Frankin is quoted" Experience keeps a dear school, but fools will learn in no other."

I love my Diana guns and will be owning more. I am not so insecure that I will try and stifle the view and comparison of other gun owners and other guns to my Diana's. In fact I welcome their opinions. Times are changing very quickly. I do believe that the Chinese can make a quality qun. I think a lot of people will agree with me. But I really do not care to argue that point now, especially with some one that has a closed mine. In the mean time I am a 460 RWS owner, and I welcome anyone who would want to take my challenge of comparing the guns . If anyone own who purchases a New Sheridan, and lives in Virginia Beach, please let me know, and I will be more than happy to trade guns for a week to do the comparison, or we can meet and do comparisons together.

Nice try.

December 31 2007, 6:14 PM

"The new Sheridan blue streak is comparable to the RWS 460."Your words Dave and the implication is clear.Experience is also the name some give to their discoveries and successes.Of course anyone is free to make whatever comparisons they wish, no matter how baseless or ridiculous. And please don't misunderstand, suggesting the yellow forum was not a dismissal from this one.Number one I don't have that authority and it's my belief that these forums function as a superb educator for those humble enough to accept the knowlege available from others. But I think you well know what the result from posts such as yours would be there.I have read a number of your posts on this forum, many of which are rife with error and groundless nonsense and frankly could no longer allow them to pass unchallenged if for no other reason than that you may be misleading those less experienced.By the way, there is a chinese "subforum" at the yellow forum site.

Air

January 1 2008, 7:46 AM

Air, if you look at the post, I was clearly talking about the specs. And yes they are indeed comparable. I thought it was very amusing that you Had never once looked at the Sheridan, but were making observations like you had while at the same time telling me not to compare the rifle because it is not yet out. Now, your opinion of my post is fine. The only thing that is ripe, is your so called experience. Now if you would like to disagree with me, that is one thing, but I suggest that you stop the baiting, and continue your insults to me, by e-mailing me, where we can continue the discussion without using up bandwith of this blog. One more thing Air, I will continue to compare rifles to my 460, and 34 and some may even be Chinese, or gamo or Beemans, if that is alright with you and even if it is not alright with you. So I ask you to stop this nonsense now and if you like, you are quite welcome to e-mail me.

Thank you and Happy New Year!

Dave

I don't check the forum for 24hrs, and all hek breaks loose again!
Dave, you seem to attract a lot of critisism lately. Go to the Hammerli forum (to learn about your 850) and return when you have cooled off Just kidding..
