hello folks - new to the dianawerk forum....occasional poster on the yellow, though.
i recently picked up a diana 27 on gunbroker (for what seemed like a good price) - it has the stock with a grooved forearm, and mod. 27, made in germany, and the diana logo on the receiver. other than that, no markings whatsoever. it is a .22 cal.
can anyone take a crack at a rough mfg date?
also any tips or links to recommended cleaning and lubing processes? haven't cronyed it yet, but it seems to be shooting relatively strongly - though from the cocking sounds, it could use a look inside.
i'm really struck by the precision of construction on this rifle - it's a keeper for sure!
Date stamp is faint and on the left side of breech

Generally, a mark like 4 68 indicating month and year. You need to look hard as it can be quite faint. The 27 was built for a while so hard to say without a picture. One of the more popular Diana guns as it is docile enough to shoot all day and with nice accuracy, yet powerful enough to do pest control.
Leather seals so hard to say if/when it was last lubricated. If you don't tear into it right away, put a few drops of pure silicon oil into the exhaust port and let it sit for a couple days. It will smoke for a while when you shoot it.
"but I'll be needin' that gun, fer squirrels and such."
i'll take a closer look at the rifle and see if i can't find a date stamp. i'll also put some silicone oil to use, until i can take it apart for a closer look.
