It's a pity that RWS doesn't see a market for serious hunters and sell the 350Mag in .25 cal. They would have to fix the weak scope mounting problem but in the end a reasonable competitor for the Turkish Patriot!Maybe a wider selection of .25 cal pellets would emerge?............Harold
I hope someone is listening.. If they were making the 350 in .25, that's what I 'd be shooting right now instead of the .22 version.
If I were Diana, I 'd have somone check the dedicated Diana forums on a daily or weekly basis so I can get feedback from the people that use my products and see what else they would like to see in the (very) near future.
Ask, where is the market? Maybe you should call up Gamo and ask them. They are not looking for a "FEW GOOD MEN, they are looking for a mass of people. I am sorry to report the truth to you guys but the 25. cal is dead. I think it will be a very specialty market! However, I am questioned by that by the new "Walther Magnum" that is generating a lot of attention just recently.
The .25 is not dead at all. There a lot of manufacturers still making the .25 including Beeman (RX2 - solid 19FPE, and almost all the high-end boys from England have 1 or 2 .25cal models. Also most of your PCP manufacturers make a .25cal as well.
I have really seen interest in .25's increasing the last few months. That's my impression on the other forums anyway.
It may be because there are so few choices in .25 . I agree the right gun in that caliber could make a good amount of headway in the market . A "mid" price point and good amount of shooter friendly features would be a requirement. Unfortunate part is getting the two in combination With a decent sales push from the manufacturer would be nearly impossible . The 350 would be the better platform in a Diana without a doubt - and I myself would love one - I just don't think there is enough "real " market interest for Diana to actually put R&D and money into such a beast .
Like I said Harry, the new Walther coming out in 25. cal, could prove me wrong. If fact, it could prove me very wrong. Maybe these guys see an opening! If fact, I am going to go back and look at the picture OF THE WALTHER MAGNUM 25. CAL. RIGHT NOW!
It's probably the ideal caliber for all the air the 350 moves IMO. But, since Umarex is the channel for communication on the RWS products, and they have their own product line, I doubt we'll ever see one.
AS we speak my Dad and I are thinking of the correct number drill for 25 cal. He knows the technique to make it long enough to do 2 foot gun bores. Working out the Riffling would be a bit more tricky but not the wizzardry you would think. Not a Daystate but better than you would think
would be IMO a winner! Beef up the internals with heavier spring,
sturdier and tighter guides and a bit more piston weight. I'm
talking the factory doing that. I'll take one in the carbine
version
If they did all the aforementioned stuff I think it could produce
mid 20s to maybe 26,27 FPE and last or keep on delivering for
many thousands of shots.
Also while they're at it bring out a Diana 460MK (karbine) 42"
OAL and add .25 caliber too
I for one would definitely seriously consider buying a .25 cal. M350. The .22 I have now has plenty of STOMP to push a bigger pellet a bit slower but still plenty fast enough to kill.
Guys, I think there are two rifles which would create a whole new market for the .25 caliber: The 850 and the Discovery. The 350 could be offered in .25 but I don't know if it would become much else than a boutique rifle. They'd almost have to make them in batches of guaranteed sales. Like preordering them.
Or they would just make a run of them and wait however long it takes to sell them because eventually they would all sell. That's the King Kong caliber. The biggest for a commercial springer.
Roy is planning for .20 adn .25 barrels, breeches and shrouds. I wouldn't be surprised if he also has a power adjuster in place of the air dump on the breech end of the gun. Lots of mods coming for that model.
.25 is not dead. In fact, as more PCPs become affordable, I think you'll see a resurgence because it is such an ideal caliber once you get it moving to 700 fps and above.
"but I'll be needin' that gun, fer squirrels and such."
this will be interesting a .25 cal in PCP, well only a PCP will make the .25 dance at 700 FPS because a springer and a good one will waltz at 600 in a good day
a .20 would be ideal the .25 is pushing the envelope in the Disco
will keep looking for the powerplant that handles the .25 in either sping, gas ram or PCP for a 800 fps for under $500.00. This is not the time but are we close, Heck YES closer than what you think

and remember "it's 30% the gun and 70% the shooter"
Warren. 28-29FPE Patriot on sale new at PA for $423! However, all Webleys are now made in Turkey and they are not well received by many because of fit & finish/wood I 've read. Still not a bad price if you get it tuned with the JM full-power spring kit & guides with lube tune, debur, etc. I 'm trying to find a used English made Patriot (or Beeman Kodiak - same rifle) in that price range. The problem many have with these, is the cocking effort of 50lbs and the weight of the gun.
I made an offer on that Kodiak .25 but he was asking too much so he declined it. He was asking $700 for it and I think was getting a little ticked off that I was questioning the age of the gun. He said he had the receipt from '06. I said ok fine so I made an offer for $500 and he didn't like it at all He 'll never get $700 for that Kodiak even though it was in mint shape.. $500 is the absolute maximum I 'm willing to pay for one of those guns.
Warren, it is well known that the 48/52 .25 shoot in the very low 600's, not mid 600's. Besides there is a big difference between a Patriot/Kodiak and a 48 .25. We are talking 29-30FPE vs. 17-18FPE. That's a hek of a difference..
For the moment I 'd like to own 1 .25cal gun. If I decide to broaden my collection, who knows, I may one day own a 48 or 52 .25cal as well. Maybe a .25cal PCP is the answer for me. I don't know, time will tell.
Yesterday I just happened to have a chrony and ...

...
a newish Diana 48 in .25 cal,
an old Kodiak in .25 cal,
an old Tomahawk in .25 cal
...at the gun range.
Chrony results with a 21 gr Diana Dome showed:
Tomahawk at 678fps
Diana 48 at 710fps
Kodiak at 760 fps.
My buddy just got the Tommy in the post and we were setting it up. I figured I would bring the other rifles for comparison. Accuracy was superb at our indoor distance of 50'.
My seat of the pants chrony says an especailly strong(like mine) m350 if rebarreled to .25 cal. could push an average weight pellet at 680 FPS +. I gotta find that chrony of mine. I know my 350 has gotta be pushing these .22 daisy precisions at 900+. With a 3 calibur/weight difference it could'nt drop more than 200 FPS "Right".To you numbers experts out there, please shoot me down if there is some phyisics law that makes what I'm saying total BS
Can you research it and find out if someone can make a quality .25cal barrel that fits the 350?
I was thinking if that can be done, I can get a used 350 .177 from the airgun classifieds (they go for ~$225) and change the barrel on it. How does that sound? The custom barrel will probably cost a ton of $ but it sounds good, doesn't it? JM made .22cal barrels for the 350 because for the first year or 2, they only imported it in .177.
I don't know the barrel dia. of the 350 but heres a place in the U.K.that has .25 cal barrel blanks.T.W. Chambers+ Co. www.gunspares.couk/ He has Walther blanks 16mm in dia Other than rebarreling would anything else need changed on coverting a 350 to .25? Harold
check back with me now and then. I am lining things up to, Getter done Harry. My Dad knows a lot of gun industry connections and we are looking into it. There will be some delay though because he just had a stroke a little less than a month ago and it slowed down his game some. John
I found this on pyramyd airs website Walther Falcon Hunter edition. price tag looks good $266.96 only problem is it wont be available until 3/15/08 not that bad a little over a month. http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/model.pl?model_id=1491
I cant wait to hear some reviews on this gun. **After more observation it looks to be a rebadged Hatsan model 125 with a camo stock** http://www.hatsan.com.tr/new_airguns_mod_125.asp
I too have been wanting a .25 cal springer for some time now
Chris
you are correct it is a Hatsan but in that web page it is rated at 750 FPS for a .25 cal, did you notice the scope rail (weaver)??? and for that price $266.96. That is about the price of the BAM 40 in .22 cal
that my friend is a good .25 answer. HUM, I have a shot at one more gun with my tax rebate, could it be this one???

and remember "it's 30% the gun and 70% the shooter"
I was reading on the Yellow forum a month or two ago that the Hatsan guns shoot pretty "rough". I don't remember what other Magnum guns they were compared to, or if compared to anything at all, but I would not buy one unless JM had a tune kit for it. I mean how good of a Magnum Springer can you expect for $260? You know it would need a good tune, but I don't think JM makes anything for Hatsan guns.
