I would like to know who here is shooting at least forty shots at something close to the ten meter match range. Doesn't matter if its a sporting rifle with a scope, sporter open sights, or if you're using a dedicated ten meter rifle be it sporter or match.
Whose out there shooting and how's it going for ya?
I've got an improvised 10m range in my basement. House is 42' long, so that's the best I can do. Shooting a scoped .177 '34. The best I can manage right now on 10s groups is about half a dime (say 9mm x 5mm, strung vertically). I can shoot 40 or more shots and cover them all with a nickle on a good day, quarter on a bad one.
Just for practice, to maintain hunting accuracy when the game is hiding (or locally extinct).
I have seriously been looking at 10 meter guns. I bought the izh 61 and it is so fun to shoot. Everyone talks about power and more power and they just overlook this sport. I am looking the the Daisy Avanti. What do you guys think is a good 10 meter gun?
This little Russian can clip a eyelash off as flea. It is a little springer that a baby can cock and is super accurate. See BB's review! All the reviews rate this gun a 5 star. I chrony mine at about 430 to 450 fps. Not bad, and it never needs a co2.
I shoot 4 times a week, practicing for a monthly ten meter AP PTO. To break
the intense practice, I shoot my RWS Mod 75 at the ISSF ten meter target and
at AP silhouette swingers at the AP distances. All my shooting is offhand and
all my AP shooting is also offhand(single hand). The rifle shooting compliments
the AP practice. I too have an IZH-61...it's great fun and I sometimes use it
instead of the RWS Mod 75. I will recommend that you find one of the used 75s
that have been showing up lately for around $350-$400. I prefer the 75 to the
more popular FWB Mod 300s. For the price, you get effective match sights with
replacable sight inserts. The Mod 75 is absolutely recoiless, and has a proper
match trigger, and is beautifully balanced. The Mod 75 has soul...
another option is an RWS Mod 100. It's much rarer feels very precise while
shooting, it has less soul than the Mod 75..but it's much easier to hit tens.
I bought my Mod 100 when they first came out, so it's the first version. If
you see the black circle anywhere in the front ring, it's scores an eight or
better after shot release. I don't shoot ten meter AR anymore because there's
no local interest. Sorry, maybe this is more info than necessary... I wish you
the absolute best enjoyment shooting at ten meters;

I'm a lifelong powder shooter who recently rediscovered the enjoyment of airguns. I purchased a Diana 46 Stutzen and equipped it with a Beeman sport aperture peep sight. It's extremely accurate and smooth. It'll put pellet after pellet on the mark.
I also purchased a Diana 300r. I'm shooting it with open sights for now and I'm very pleased with it. I've had no problems whatsoever with the gun but have read a number of posts warning about the pellet feed mechanism.
I love my Diana rifles. I'm very disappointed with RWS's one piece c-mount, however. I foolishly purchased 2 mounts with the intention of mounting Centerpoint scopes on each rifle. I started with the Stutzen. Completely degreased, loctited, etc. The base winds up wobbling on the receiver.
-Seriously considering a 460 but the Crosman/Benjamin Discovery has my attention.
Hi,
I shoot my Diana 100 informally in my garage at 10 metres. (single stroke pneumatic)
It is the later model with the stainless steel compression cylinder.Had it from new about 13 years ago.
It is extreemly accurate and I just love it.
No, it is not for sale!!!
Re: Any rifle. Whose shooting tem meters right now? (33ft)

Man this is great! I love to read about guys getting the chance to shoot as often as possible and using ten meter as fun and training. There's something about getting on the line and working toward putting a little pellet in as small a diameter group as possible.
The more ya do it the more fun it becomes. Yeah, sure at first it can be frustrating but those of us who have to shoot ten meter (trust me, its a need) have all been through the ups and downs and we still go through them on our own personal levels.
I fell off the wagon over the holidays. Strangely, whatever I'm doing now is getting me better scores than before the holidays. Sometimes it works that way. Ultimately I do it to hear that 75 go off. I do it to see the black disc appear as close to dead center to the ring of the front sight of the 75 as I can make it. That's where the fun is. Not so much in the scoring for me as it is in that moment when I'm about to release the trigger. When I can feel the ridges of the trigger blade on my index finger as it moves through the first stage. That smallest of jolts you can feel sort of ripple through the rifle. Through the trigger blade to your finger. The lightest touch...
The trick is to find that moment and it takes a lot of time to get there. But when you do its worth it.
If you're going to shoot an air rifle anyway, treat yourself to one of the best experiences in the game. Take whatever airgun you have and set up a ten m range. You'll go from wobbly to settled over time and then you'll find you've become addicted... hehehe

Another 10m basement shooter, almost every night. 15,000 rounds in the last year or so. Diana 34 classic, 34 Panther, Hy-Score 813 (Diana23), FWB124D, 2-IZH61's, 2-Chinese B3-2's, QB78, Crossman Storm, Beeman Original 5 (Diana Model 5),Crosman 1377. Benji Discovery on the way. Love the Diana's the most, .25" or better all the time. The FWB can do a little better but there's something about the Diana's.
Happy Shooting!
Jeff, Can't wait to here what you have to say about your new "Discovery". I take it you have ordered one? I notice that a comment was made by one of the founders of the 850 forum, that so many guys were getting the Discovery, that they would have to change the name to 850/Discovery.
Good luck Jeff, I have no doubt that this will be a great gun!
139? Harry last month this gun was $99.00 at Pa. I know that it is sold out on every website that I have seen. Besides I believe you are looking at the mp-514 by Baikal which is $139.00, the IZH- has gone up to $109.00.
I was looking at the IZH-61 Combo, and didn't notice the sell the rifle ala-carte. Yep, $109. PA always adds that 10% to everything since they assume you have a 10% coupon, or to cover the "free-shipping" because they know you 'll bump your order up to $149 from $110. Most of the items they sell are 10% higher to cover those "discounts" and free/ship.
That gun looks a little like the AF Concord, and a tactical-type gun, doesn't it? If it's super-accurate, it is definitely worth a look. Are these low-power guns with <500fps MV good only at 10yds? Do they experience a significant POI drop at 15 or 20? I guess they should be just as accurate at 20yds if you sighted them in for that, no?
Harry, the gun is accurate at 20 to 30 yards. It is low power and for target only. It would kill a starling a 10 yards, but that is about it. I chroyned mine at about 430 to 458 fps. The Russian barrel is what so great about this gun. At 10 meters it is a blast to shoot. I have to get a scope because the gun is so accurate that after shooting targets you really do want to hunt flys on a tree. My eyes need the scope for that. I have a bug buster scope and have ordered the Pycanny mount to fit the gun.
I 'll show it to my wife. I think she 'll enjoy shooting it as much as me. I had her shoot the 350 the other day and was complaining it's too heavy. She cocked it once and had some difficulty so I was cocking it for her. She 'll probably like the 850 .22 a lot (it shipped today!) but instead of going through dozens of costly Airsource bottles I 'd rather have her shoot the Izzy which is also very easy to cock. Did Gaylord say 12.5lbs of force only? That is amazing. Why do we have to cock our Dianas with 3X as much force for only twice the velocity? (I know the answer - just kidding).
